With the new Persia DLC on the horizon and players spread across servers, Myth of Empires’ dev team has announced free character transfers between servers. The devs say this is to consolidate the economy just before the game’s latest DLC is released.
“Due to the current fragmentation of the game world, the number of players in some worlds has decreased, leading to a scarcity of items in the Trading Post,” the Steam post reads. “To address this issue and enhance your gaming experience, as the Persia DLC is about to be released, we have decided to enable cross-server character transfer.”
Once the registration for transferring is done, the transfer will happen during the next maintenance. Those who transfer will only be able to bring over Classic Era and Lotus Era characters into New Era. character-specific stats, leveling progress, experience, and more. Mounts, guilds, and warriors will not carry over.
Those who play this weekend will also get 100% increased Moth yield and a chance for 100% extra yield of crafted Arrows, so it’s not a bad time to at least poke around the game if a character transfer needs to happen.
It’s not a matter of an entirely dead game, at least. According to SteamDB charts, the game started at a hefty 30,000 players or so around its launch back in February 2024. In the past few months, the player count has hovered above a consistent 2,000, give or take a few hundred; it’s quite normal for games to go down in player count over time by 90% or so.
The Persia DLC will bring a bit of a refresh to the game, including a new map, tools, and new weapons the team previewed this week.
