New Assistant Game Director -

Funcom announces new Assistant Game Director for Anarchy Online

Funcom announces that Marius Enge has been appointed to the role as Assistant Game Director for Anarchy Online. Marius is one of the most experienced developers of Anarchy Online, and has previously served as Game Designer, Customer Service Manager and Lead GM. His exemplary experience and diverse skills made him the ideal candidate for the role as Assistant Game Director.

Initially Marius Enge will overlap Gaute Godager, the current Game Director. Once Funcom goes full force into production of the next Anarchy Online addition, Marius will assume the role of Game Director.

"It’s too early to go into specifics on the next AO project" said Marius Enge, "but one of my main visions for Anarchy Online is to further emphasize non-stop fast paced action, while continuing to strengthen what we are known for; fun and creative gameplay in a detailed and immersive sci-fi world".

Gaute Godager will move over to a new, as of yet unannounced high-profile MMOG title. Under Gaute’s hands Anarchy Online has flourished to become a fantastic title. The game has received numerous high-profile awards, including Online Game of the Year 2001 in PC gamer, IGN’s Best of E3 2001, Best of ECTS 2001 and Expansion Pack of the Year 2002 in CGW. His latest project as Game Director was Shadowlands, the critically acclaimed expansion pack for Anarchy Online. After the first 35 reviews of Shadowlands the expansion has received 7 Editor’s Choice awards, including IGN and Gamespy, as well as an 87% review score average and fantastic praise from everyone in the media who has tested the game. All fans of MMOG’s definitively have a lot to look forward to when Funcom unveils a new game by Gaute Godager.

"Working with Anarchy Online has been one the most exciting things I have ever done." said Gaute Godager, and continued "Anarchy Online has been, no, IS so much my baby as anything else I have ever made! It is very hard to let go, I must admit. Still, I will not stop playing it, participating and caring especially about the community that is, at least I think so, the best in any MMORPG on the market! Six full years is a long time, though. It is time to let some other talents have a crack at it. Good Luck Marius!"

Expect to hear from both from Marius Enge and Gaute Godager in the times to come as Funcom unveils exciting new online projects.
