New Features Announced for April Launch

The feature list for Alganon's re-launch on April 28th are now available on the incredibly sparse transitional official Alganon website. First on the list is, of course, a website upgrade befitting Alganon's new look, but the new site will not only sport a snazzy new look, but new features as well, including the launch of the game's item shop the "Tribute Market," as well as a server status function, an interesting "Recent Level Up" feature which tracks the community's progress in real time, and a Characters section that will announce to the world when a new character is created.

A new Alganon trial also been announced, which will allow players to play free of charge for a full week (seven days). What is interesting to note, however, is that Quest Online will be segregating trial users from paid users, only allowing trial users to play the game on pre-designated "trial servers." Should you decide to upgrade to a full account, your trial character will be given the opportunity to move over to any of the members servers with all their data and assets intact.

The Tribute (microtransactions) system is also described in better detail, as well. Players can look forward to purchasing boons (study time buffs), one time user items, timed use items (rentals, essentially), and permanent use items. One time use items generally consist of consumables that buff a user's experience gain rate. Timed use items may consist of vanity pets, mounts, armor, and weapons. Some vanity pets and mounts will also be available as permanent items.

Below are details on Tribute conversion:

Tribute Conversion Table (Subject to change)

Tribute Cost (USD)
250 $1.45
500 $2.80
1000 $5.50

New starter areas the "Temple of Argon" and the "Temple of Xukiss" will also be added with Alganon's relaunch. The new zones will introduce players to the lore of the game, and even meet one of the game's deities.

Rounding things out in the way of new features are new world instances, with the new instanced content beginning as low as level 8 and extending all the way to level 50+.

We'd be remiss without discussing Alganon's improvements to existing features, as well. Come April 28th, players can look forward to Alganon's newly revamped UI, which is sporting a new look, as well as additional functionality in the form of mod customization support, and the ability to take screenshots in a variety of file formats.

Mob pathing has also seen improvements, solving a long-standing issue of mobs attacking players from underground, or running through objects to pursue players.

A laundry list of tweaks and other improvements were also made. You can read about them and everything else coming to Alganon on April 28th here.

UPDATE: For those of you who have not been following Alganon's developments closely, Alganon will be re-launching subscription free. The only payment required is for the client itself,  beyond that Alganon is free-to-play with an item mall.

[Thanks Ludipe for the tip!]
