Devs Detail the Road Ahead for the Next 2 Major Updates -

The Albion Online team has published a brand new article to provide players with a look at what is currently in the works with regard to the next two major updates, Joseph and Kay. In addition, a less detailed look beyond the  next two updates is revealed that lays out the basic framework of the game's progress throughout the coming months.

The "Joseph" update is targeted for release in late September or early Ocotober. It will bring the Albion Arena online that allows players to take part in 5v5 matches lasting no longer than 10 minutes. Players will fight to control points with winners earning arena tokens that can be traded for items.

Other areas for improvement:

  • Dungeons and fixed mobcamps
  • tier 6 expeditions
  • new abilities
  • UI improvements,
  • "smart casting"
  • guild interface improvements
  • combat and item balance
The "Kay" update will be released about three months after "Joseph", definitely by the end of the year. The focus of this update will be the Guild vs Guild system.

Therefore our key features for Kay will be territory invasions and guild power rankings. With these, we'll elevate the competition between guilds to the next level. Guilds will receive ranking points for holding watchtower territories. These ranking points are used to establish a global guild ranking that shows which guild truly is king of Albion. At regular intervals, this ranking is reset. When this happens, the watchtower territories will be invaded by NPC forces and guilds will have to retake control of them by defeating the NPCs. Because many territories are reset at the same time, this limits the ability of large guilds to take control of too many watchtowers at the beginning of a ranking season.

Other areas in the works for Kay include:

  • performance improvements for large scale battles
  • iOS beta
  • reworked marketplace
  • smarter black market drops
  • relics and relic level artifacts

Beyond Kay players can look forward to:

  • elite expedition and expedition challenges
  • interactive PvE spots
  • Blessings
