When Aion: Awakened Legacy launches later this month, it will do so with a new high-level zone called Lakrum. The area is tailored for players beginning at level 75. The journey through Lakrum will take players from level 75 to 80 as they explore and quest. "Lakrum is dense with both friend and foe alike -- all fighting to gain power".

When Aion: Awakened Legacy arrives on October 24th, players will find a number of "amazing improvements to almost all major game systems and features" according to a fresh announcement on the official site. Developers are promising "Daevas old and young" a more streamlined and enjoyable experience throughout the game.

Aion is celebrating its ninth anniversary throughout the upcoming month starting September 12th and running through October 3rd. There will be three events in which to participate including Daeva's Day Cake, Kromede's Revenge and a variety of anniversary bonus boosts (September 19th - September 26).

According to MMO Culture, it appears that the Korean NCSoft site has been updated with a number of job postings for a brand new "next gen MMO" based on the Aion IP. The game will be built using Unreal Engine 4 and job requirements include using "3DS Max to create character / monster / animation resources for the concept and development environment". But...that's about all we know.

The Aion site has been updated with a new contest announcement called Leave Your Legacy: Costume Design. Aspiring and artistic Daevas are invited to create a costume design and submit it by May 27th for entry into the contest. The winner will receive in-game premium currency and five costume skins of their design. Five runners up will receive a smattering of in-game premium currency.

The Aion site has been updated with a brief look ahead at the next content update coming to the game. Called "Heart of Frost, the update is exptected to land on January 10th. The team is promising to reveal more as the release date nears, but in the meantime, you can get a look at some screens from the new content as well as read a brief description.

The Aion site has been updated with a preview of some of the new instances coming with the Omens of Ice content expansion. Omens is expected to launch on Wednesday, July 19th. Instances in Omens of Ice range from solo all the way through 96-players. Most are available multiple times per week.

Aion v5.3 has officially launched with a new trailer and much more. Players will be able to take part in massive nearly 400 player strong battles as well as the addition of the new Arena of Tenacity. Several other alterations were made in skills, environments, glory points in addition to the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Aion will be updated on March 8th with a patch that will bring massive 384-player battles into the game. Dredgion Defense will pit Daevas against each other and charge them with multiple goals to defend their cities. Successful defense and completion of goals earns points towards victory.

Aion 5.3 will be released very soon and it comes packed, literally in this sense, with a nearly 400-player PvE battleground. Archdaevas are charged with defeating Ereshkigal's army. In addition, the single-elimination tournament arena, Arena of Tenacity, will make its debut with new Guardian and Prime Archon gear and Estima enchantments to help customize gear.

Flying in the face of the typical developer code name for games in development such as Project M or Project X, NCSOFT is working on a title called Project A2 that is significantly along in its development. According to Korean site The Fact (via 2P.com), this seems to be a reference to Aion 2 since the code name has both a letter and a number attached to it.

Merry Daevas throughout Aion can now take part in the game's Frozen Magic celebration. Frosterinerk is on hand to help Daevas enchant magical snowballs to enchant through three parts to earn some pretty awesome presents that can include crafting boost charms, chicken wings, enchantment stones, Netherworld Daeva Wings, a plastic surgery ticket, AP boost charms, dyes, Frosterinerk's Amulet and many others.

The Aion team has sent word that the Nightmare Circus has rolled back into town from now through November 2nd. Players are charged with rescuing Yume, Queen of the Faeries, to stop Heramune from taking her power for himself. The event takes place in three stages with some pretty sweet rewards at the end -- reward crates that come in two sizes and that can be packed with all sorts of in-game goodies.

The free Aion update called Lost Memories has been deployed on European servers. Lost Memories introduces a level 75 cap and the ability for players to ascend to a High Daeva. Two new areas and four brand new instances have also been added. The first players to achieve server-first accomplishments such as reaching level 70 or 75 will be rewarded with a special title, one-of-a-kind items and a mount.
