In Development, Just Not as an MMO

THQ has been hit with massive layoffs and has announced that Warhammer 40k: Dark Millenium is no longer in development as an MMO. A few months ago, Kevin Dent sent out a message on his Twitter account indicating that W40K:DM was essentially dead in the water only to be countered by THQ denying any such thing. It appears that Dent was right.


THQ Seeking Partner for Publication

During a THQ investors' call held recently, it was revealed that the company is unable to deliver Warhammer 40k: Dark Millenium Online on its own and is seeking partnership opportunities with other companies.


Rumor Squashed...Kinda

Gamasutra has spoken with a representative of THQ that clarifies yesterday's rumor that all 2014 releases were canceled. Warhammer 40k is due for release in 2014 and was considered one of the canceled titles. However, the statement by Angela Emery is a bit nebulous in that the official word is that THQ "has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO."


Cancelled?

According to a rumor report at Kotaku, games industry insiders are reporting that THQ is readying itself for sale by divesting itself of properties as well as cancelling any titles due for release in 2014. The latter includes Warhammer 40K: Dark Millenium Online.


Try Not to Get TOO Excited But...

The official THQ game page for Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millenium has a new release date. According to the page, the game is scheduled for release on March 31, 2013. Be sure to mark your calendars.

THQ and Games Workshop have released the E3 teaser trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium Online. Check it out!


Cost in the $50 Million Range

During a phone conference with investors, THQ THQ Executive Vice President and CFO Paul Pucino indicated that development costs for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium is projected to be in the range of fifty million dollars. Pucino refused to speculate as to the number of subscribers THQ would need to maintain to 'break even' but did say that a successful launch could keep a steady revenue stream for up to eight years.


GC 2010: The Imperium of Man Announced in New Trailer

THQ and Vigil Games have released their Gamescom 2010 trailer for Warhammer 40K: Dark Millennium Online, which features the game's first announced playable race, the Imperium of Man.


Nine New Screens
