Gamescom 2016 - So Much Promise & Potential

Dual Universe has so much promise and potential, I went to see it twice. Fortunately I am not going for a lowbrow joke here, over the course of Gamescom I first sat down with Ludovic Serny, the Community & Social Media manager at Novaquark. A day or so later there was the chance to sit down and chat with Jean-Christophe Baillie, President at Novaquark.

Gamescom 2016 - Taking to the Stars Via Console

During Gamescom 2016, Jonathan Doyle managed a sit down with the Star Trek Online console version along with a chat with Art Director Sam Wall. See what the pair discussed and more in our exclusive interview.

Chasing the Story

Several weeks back I had the chance to go to London to preview some Atlas Reactor gameplay and meet two of the minds behind it, Executive Producer Pete Ju and Lead Designer William Cook. Shortly after that, Trion were off to Gamescom and myself and Pete managed to catch up again along with Community Manager Joe “Muzzy” Brogno.

It's All About Ambition & Technology - Gamescom Reveal Preview

Technology marches on, our computers get faster, our devices get smaller, our dreams get closer to realization. I stand by what I said in the awards for best of Gamescom, sometime recently games on mobile got gorgeous and I never knew. I sat down to play with Shadowgun Legends and I still can't quite believe it was a mobile game.

Project Arena - Hopping Around with My Vive On

Video games have long been a force for imagination. It's no surprise, they are after all those imaginings we had as children writ large and in polygons, pixels and pointers. Project Arena is what happens when you get talented developers, a company like CCP, a movie like TRON and blend it on high with a HTC Vive dropped in for flavor.

It's Good to Be Bad - Gamescom Hands On

Our own Jonathan Doyle got hands on with Paradox and Obsidian's upcoming Tyranny RPG at Gamescom 2016. Was it good? Well it did win RPG of the show, but let's see what Jonathan has to say.

Sailing the Margorian Seas - Gamescom Preview

Naval themes seemed to be out in force at Gamescom. If it wasn't spaceships in the void, it was more down to earth ships cutting through the high seas. Black Desert Online was very much included in this and is working towards their Margoria expansion. Kakao Games, formerly Daum Games, along with Pearl Abyss have invited us to try our hands at sailing the Margorian seas and awakening new power in your characters.

Gamescom 2016 – Best of Show Awards

Gamescom 2016 is in the bag and our team has seen all there is to see and choose the best of the best from Europe's biggest gaming convention.

A Pirate's Life for Me at Gamescom

Sea of Thieves is shaping up to be a bit of an MMO dark horse from Rare. We got our hands on the PC and XB1 open world pirate multiplayer adventure during Gamescom 2016, and came away mighty impressed.

Gamescom 2016 with J. Todd Coleman & Jess Mulligan

Early Friday morning at Gamescom we sat down with Jess Mulligan from Travian to talk about Crowfall while we waited for J Todd Coleman to find his way to us. It was a lovely informal chat. Jess on the other hand? She's been in the industry a long time. Quite possibly she has more experience in the industry than I do at playing the products of the games industry. With that, we had our rambled on...

Star Wars Battlefront's Deathstar and PSVR Impressions

While at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Jonathan Doyle got to try out Star Wars Battlefront's upcoming Deathstar map... And he got to try it with PSVR as well.

Eastern Lands Expansions Brings Private Procedurally Generated Islands for Players to Own

Have you ever wanted your own private island? A nice little getaway from the world perhaps? Or something more like a tropical paradise. If you play Runescape, you're that much closer to having one all of your own.

A Modern Blast From the Past

I don't remember much about the Albion Online booths exterior. I can't. It's all drowned out in a shared memory with the team from Sandbox Interactive GmbH. Someone is playing a trailer of some description. We're trying to talk about a medieval sandbox MMO. All we can hear is someone insisting voiciferously that we should "Come to mama!"

Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor Martyr - Taking ARPG to the Imperium of Man

Sometimes appointments can be arrived at early! Sometimes this means you get some time totally alone playing with the demo. Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr, which you know we'll just call Martyr from here on out, is two things entirely. It is inescapably an action role playing game which... is a genre I don't really care for. It is also, however, inescapably Warhammer. The demo level consisted of clearing a cathedral of some foul heretical scum by bolter and chainsword.

Merging the Spirit of the Series with a Beautiful New Engine

So what is Kingdom Under Fire II? KUF2 (much easier) is a merging of the spirit of earlier Kingdom Under Fire titles with a new beautiful engine. In short, KUF2 is a cross between RTS, RPG and MMO. Playing out in front of me it looked like the sort of thing Peter Jackson dreams about when he considers battle scenes.
