True Fantasy Live Online Overview

True Fantasy Live Online was a planned MMO release for the Xbox console. Developed by Level-5 Studios in Japan, TFLO was announced in 2002 to much fanfare. Set in a sprawling fantasy world, the game had cel-shaded graphics, which was unique in the MMO space at the time, and its world was planned to be large and in the tradition of many fantasy RPGs in settings such as lush green plains, cities, and dungeons. Players could ride horses or journey on foot, and TFLO intended to have not only an assortment of quests to pursue and monsters to hunt for players, but also communities of customizable player housing, more than a dozen job choices, and the ability to join one of many adventure guilds. The depth of player choice was immense, with the ability to live as a warrior or even a simple chef.

True Fantasy Live Online was to be the first MMO with voice chat compatibility, and the game was set to feature up to 3,000 players in the same world. TFLO was cancelled in June of 2004.
