Witcher Novelist Demanding $16M in Royalties from CD Projekt Red

Andrezj Sapkowski, author of the eight book Witcher novel series, has sent an "official demand" to CD Projekt Red for an additional $16M USD in royalties that would be added to payments he has already collected. Sapkowski originally made a deal with CDPR in the early 2000s to sell the rights to The Witcher. "The compensation remitted to the author is too low given the benefits obtained in association with the use of the author's work". The 'demand' is for 6% "of the profits obtained'.

Netflix Series Producer Confirms 8-Episode Season to Possibly Debut in 2020

The Witcher is coming to Netflix in 2020 according to producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The news came via Hissrich's Twitter where she also confirmed that the possible release of the series could come as early as 2020. "We're moving quickly ahead with everything. I've finished the pilot, which yes, will be polished more when we cast/shoot. The other 7 episodes don't yet exist, except in my head."


CD Projekt Red Releases Enhanced Graphics Patch for XBox One X

CD Projekt Red has announced the release of an XBox One X graphical "upgrade patch" for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It allows "tweaks to the game across two visual fidelity options -- 4K Mode and Performance Mode. In addition, the company revealed that a PlayStation 4 Pro upgrade patch that will include HDR support will be released soon.


Latest Update Brings PlayStation 4 Pro Update at Last

CD Projekt Red has announced the release of a pair of patches, 1.50 for PlayStation 4 Pro support and 1.51 that adds stability to the client overall. The patch for Pro support was originally planned for September but slipped slightly to early October. A 4K support update for XBox One X is planned for late 2017.


Netflix to Produce Series Based on Sapkowski's Novels

Netflix and Polish production company, Platige Image, have announced a partnership agreement to bring Andrzej Sapkowski's series of novels to life. The Witcher series will be an English-language drama produced in Poland. The Expanse's Jason Brown and Sean Daniel are on board as producers along side BAFTAwinner Tomek Baginski as director.


Book Author Had No Faith In Game Success

EuroGamer has an interesting interview with Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the Witcher books. In the early 2000s Sapkowski made a deal with CD Projekt RED's co-founder Marcin Iwinski. The company could use his world and characters, but should write a completely original story. Sapkowski was offered a portion of profits from any games created from his IP, including the latest The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Gwent, which he turned down in favor of an immediate cash flow.

Have I Been Pwned is reporting that 1.8M users of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt forums have had account data taken during a large-scale hacking event that took place in March 2016. According to HIBP, user names, passwords and email addresses were taken.

New First Person Mod - See The World Through Geralt's Eyes

Nexus Mods user Skacikpl is making an interesting new mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that allows the players to move the camera to first person view to see the world through Geralt's eyes. Eurogamer is reporting that the committee in charge of age ratings for German software, USK, has a listing for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition. According to the information on the USK site, the GotY version is slated for release on August 26th.
