Ubisoft will shut down its massive open world racing game The Crew in March after more than nine years. The other two entries in the series, The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest, will continue getting support and new content.
With the imminent release of The Crew 2, further patches and updates for The Crew 1 will stop. The announcement was made on The Crew site in a developer blog post. While active development on the game has stopped, there are "no plans to shut down The Crew servers any time soon".
Ubisoft has confirmed a pair of games currently in development that should please a lot of fans. Both The Crew 2 and Far Cry 5 are in the pipeline, though any further details are unknown at this point.
The UbiBlog has been updated with a new infographic to celebrate The Crew. The game has scored over ten million players during its first two years among other fun stats published in an infographic.
The Ubisoft Club has been celebrating the company's anniversary by giving games away to members. Beginning September 14th, members of the Club will be able to play The Crew for free through October 11th. It's a great time to jump into the game to try it out with two big content expansions coming in November.
Ubisoft has announced that The Crew will be expanding on November 29th with the Calling All Units update. Calling All Units is considered a cooperative expansion that focuses on racers versus police with better AI, an increased level cap and brings a bevy of new vehicles into the game.
Stunt races are now an integral part of The Crew: Wild Run. Players will be able to perform tricks and stunts on specially designed tracks. Skilled riding and facing off against the clock will be integral to success.
In the next update to The Crew, players will be able to enjoy a trio of pretty cool things. Speed Trap is a new game mode that will be released on January 25th. Players will be challenged to attain the highest possible speeds driving past radar locations sprinkled throughout the course. On completion, the average speed will be determined from the five recorded.
Ubisoft has released the first expansion of its action-driving game, The Crew. Called "Wild Run", the expansion brings four new vehicle types into the game, fifteen new licensed vehicles, sixty new tuning kits and unlimited free-drive multiplayer challenges among other things.
The Ubi team is on hand running a special live stream event for The Crew Wild Run that features a look at the beta client. You can head to the Ubisoft Twitch.tv channel to check out the driving action since it's already started. Ready, set, GO!
Racing fans rejoice! Ubisoft has announced that the starting flag for the PC closed beta test will wave beginning on Thursday, October 15th and will run through Sunday, October 19th.
Ubisoft unveiled the first expansion to The Crew during today's press conference at E3. Called "Wild Run", the expansion promises to take players to 'the summit', a huge gathering of drivers facing off in locations throughout the United States.
Ubisoft has announced that several new cars will be headed into The Crew, first for Season Pass holders for a week of early access, and subsequently for other players. The community had been concerned by the lack of Season Pass content, a worry that seems to be dismissed for the time being with the new vehicles.
XBox One and PlayStation 4 users who want to see what The Crew is all about can now take advantage of a special 2-hour free trial of the game, according to a post on the game's official site.
The Crew team has sent word that the Vintage Car Update has arrived with several components free for all players. In addition the Vintage Car Pack DLC has been released that features the Chevrolet Corvette C2, Chevrolet Corvette C3, and Spyker C8 Aileron.
