Stargate Worlds developer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has turned two years old. So, using the usual birthday analogy we use for MMOs, does this mean that CME has been pregnant with Stargate World for two years?
Two years ago, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment announced its plans to develop an MMO based on the Stargate television franchise. StargateWorlds.com takes this opportunity to explore how far we've come! "MGM Interactive and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment today formally announced their agreement to develop the Stargate Worlds MMORPG based on the popular science-fiction television series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis," said the original press release. "Stargate Worlds is a massively multiplayer online role playing game set in the universe of the longest-running science fiction television series in U.S. history, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Players will step through the Stargate to explore alien worlds, encounter ancient civilizations and battle implacable enemies." Two years later, the Stargate Worlds team is in sight of the end of its development cycle, and the community originally constructed in anticipation of the game has matured into a stable, energetic and fun place to be.
