John Needham has left Cryptic Studios and Jack Emmert has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Needham has left Cryptic to 'unspecified other opportunities in gaming'. Emmert is now the top executive at Cryptic and will report directly to Atari.

Cryptic Studios and the Star Trek Online team have produced a video showing off all the great projects that users have created using The Foundry tools. The trailer highlights several 'spotlight' missions made since the tools were released recently.

Star Trek Online executive producer Daniel Stahl has published the first Engineering Report for 2011. With STO approaching its first anniversary, Stahl has lots to say about what the team has been working on. Star Trek Online Season 3: Genesis is coming this December according to a new overview page on the official site. In Season 3, sector space has been overhauled, item sets will be introduced and players will be able to create their own missions. Called "The Foundry", player created missions will enter beta testing when the season begins. Players can create and share their missions with others.
