Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is an action RPG in the Star Ocean series. The game will take place between Star Ocean: The Second and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, although it is also referred to as the fifth in the series. The game is set on the planet of Feycreed and follows Fidel Camus, a swordsman who protects his town, his childhood friend Miki, and a young amnesiac girl who also lost her feelings, Lilia. The game will feature real-time battles and character switching in combat, as well as a combo system and more.

The Star Ocean series is one I've never really delved too deeply into, personally. But I have had a nerd love affair with the Tales of series from Namco Bandai. Turns out, Star Ocean developer Tri-Ace was formed by the guys who made the original Tales of Phantasia. So it now makes a whole lot of sense that I'm finding myself engaged by Star Ocean.

This year, the Star Ocean series celebrates its twentieth anniversary with the release of its fifth game, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. This week, publisher Square Enix invited members of the press to preview the game's less cutscene-heavy approach to storytelling and combat, an approach that thus far, appears to be working.
