38 Studios has released a new video featuring a look at combat in Kingdoms of Amalur featuring Lead Combat Designer Joe Quadara, Animator Chris Cox, and Lead Animator Young Vo. Enjoy!
i agree somewhat with you skelly. like a cross between a f2p asian game. big swords/bright lights and your standard themepark mmo. ( wow/rift ) i came to find out why this RPG looks like a mmo. because when they forst started working on it, it wqas intended to be a mmo. but they changed it to this rpg.
I love how developers talk and get all excited about a game they are developing as if it's the first time we have seen a game like it. Pass
Game developement is just so bland and so overdone for my taste anymore. It might be great for the newer generation of gamer that hasn't already been there seen that, but I have been gaming since the 80's and nothing I have seen in the past 10 years has grabbed me as far as MMORPGs go.
This in ways reminds me of dww, and sw from the hack and slash genre, although in ways more deep yet not by much. Nothign against dual weilding, but it has become way to common place in the mmos, and we never see single weapon weilding styles and such in mmos anymore. I always loved that look, and style over dw, and you get forced in shield and sword or two hander fighting if you do not want to dw.
And this looks really good. I can't wait until Copernicus is revealed. I'm definately buying this, too. The art style reminds me of fable. In a good way.
Before anyone comments and is like "this is not an MMO" AGAIN please do a bit of searching and discover information on your own before making yourself look foolish.
This game is the backdrop for a new MMO that is coming out set in the same world a few hundred years later. So yes, this really does pertain to MMOs.
It'd be like if before WoW launched they made a game that got you all excited and made you a fan before hand... like Warcraft 3.
I've got to agree with SandaStunna that the game looks like it has a DCUO feel to it. That's not a deal-breaker for me...I rather prefer a game like this to have a "fighting game element" to it. I also agree that folks who use macros are complete failures and are too cowardly to play on equal terms with real gamers (that goes double in pvp).
like dcuo, MACRO CITY!!!
btw macro scrubs got no skills.
Thu Dec 22 2011 3:41PM ReportThis is not an MMORPG.
Thu Dec 22 2011 4:50PM ReportI'd consider playing this game if there was an option to turn off the bright lights in combat.
Their aniamtions look really solid, and they're being masked by the ugly lighting effects.
Thu Dec 22 2011 4:57PM ReportI hope they really consider turning this RPG into a MMORPG.
Combat looks awesome and the animations are great.
Thu Dec 22 2011 5:41PM Reportgreat effort there! hope they succeed

Fri Dec 23 2011 11:25AM ReportLooks really ugly. Weird lights on weapons in combat,. just like in asian games or some anime stuff.
