Pride of Taern: Review
Taern is a browser based game that we've been putting through its paces over the last little while and we've got our official MMORPG.com review to share with you.

Let's be forthright about this: Taern is an ugly game. It is browser-based, Infinity Engine inspired fare, but it also lacks a certain effort. Menus are sparse and poorly finished, the combat sequences are less animated than a corpse, and your avatar looks like a robot hobbit.

The Secret World: Review-in-Progress Part One
MMORPG.com is committed to giving our readers the best and most informative reviews of today's hottest MMOs. With that in mind, we're beginning our multi-part series on The Secret World. In today's installment, we take our first baby steps into The Secret World and give you our thoughts about the game.

Where characters really get a chance to shine as unique individuals is with clothing. The options at creation are pretty broad though most of the apparel is "the same thing in a different color". Still there are tons of choices from the get-go. I dressed my girl up in a nice pair of cargo pants and a tank top with a pair of glasses and she was ready to roll. And I could have lived with that for a long time until I discovered Pangaea in London. Honestly, it's a good thing that TSW players have a clothing store to shop in because, at least to now, I have not had a single item of clothing drop off a monster. But that's just fine now that I have some ready cash to hit Pangaea's. I could have spent all day there...well, I actually spent most of my day off there looking at and trying on everything. Talk about choices galore! I ended up buying a few things but am saving my money for a trench coat which just suits my overall mysteriousness in TSW.

Game of the Week

Anarchy Online is a free-to-play sci fi MMORPG set 30,000 years in the future, on the desert world of Rubi-Ka. Players become a new colonist to Rubi-Ka, and must join one of three factions: Omni-Tek, The Clans, and a neutral faction. Since its launch in 2001, AO has built up a solid base of features, including having a level cap of 220, 4 humanoid breeds, 14 Professions, and 83 skills to choose from, along with being free to play.

Anarchy Online was the first sci fi MMORPG, and introduced instances to the genre. AO has a strong backstory, but remains sandbox by allowing players to choose how they play their characters, and for what reasons. Both solo and team play are well supported, as well as PvE, PvP, and roleplaying. A substantial game master group exists, called the Advisors of Rubi-Ka (ARK), who offer in game help to players, write and create (roleplaying) game events, and greet and assist new players.

AO has released 5 expansion since initial launch: Notum Wars (2002), Shadowlands (2003), Alien Invasion (2004), Lost Eden (2006), and Legacy of the Xan (2009). The graphics engine is currently undergoing an overhaul, changing from an older Dreamworld engine version to the newer version used in Age of Conan.
