Finalist Voting Opens

We have narrowed the list to a few nominees in each category. Now it's your turn to vote.

By Dana Massey on December 05, 2006

Finalists for Most Anticipated: Conan, LotRO, PotBS, STO, Vanguard & WAR

For every game released, it seems ten enter production. Today, we ask you to vote for which upcoming game you are most anticipating. Last year, we only nominated games that we "thought" would release in 2006. This year, we've opened up the voting to every single game listed on our site (that is not in commercial service) and a selection of high-profile games that have been announced, but have not yet met the qualifications for listing.

Dungeons and Dragons Online won it last year and Turbine is back in the category this year with Lord of the Rings Online. We also have Funcom's Age of Conan, FlyinLabs' Pirates of the Burning Sea, Perpetual's Star Trek Online, EA Mythic's Warhammer and Sigil's Vanguard. Each offers a different kind of experience, which one do you hope to be playing most?

Star Trek Online

Pirates of the Burning Sea

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Lord of the Rings Online

The Finalists

Age of Conan, Funcom

It narrowly missed out last year and now it's getting a lot closer to launch. This is a game we should see in 2007. It received rave reviews from most sites at E3 and promises a truly adult experience to its players. Does Conan have the weight and Funcom the track record to put it at the top of your wishlist?

Lord of the Rings Online, Turbine Entertainment

Lord of the Rings most certainly has the track record, but does Turbine have the loyalty to be trusted with a second consecutive victory? Due out early next year, Lord of the Rings offers you a chance to experience the first book in a very well put together, if not overly innovative world.

Pirates of the Burning Sea, FlyingLab

One of two games leaving the fantasy genre in this category, Pirates of the Burning Sea lets players sail, have peg legs and fire cannons. The game's been a long time coming and getting closer to launch. Do you celebrate speak like a pirate day? If so, this may be the game to vote for.

Star Trek Online, Perpetual Entertainment

Another huge license. Perpetual, who are also making our E3 2006 Most Anticipated Gods and Heroes, has bit off a big project in this title. Promising space and ground action that feels like Star Trek, can the San Francisco based developer breath new life into a stagnant franchise?

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil Games

The people who originally built EverQuest are trying another kick at the can with Vanguard. This anticipated game is also due out early next year and should provide the fantasy genre with another sure-fire hit. The question is, is it your favorite game on this list?

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, EA Mythic

EA Mythic has the track record and if our hype meter is any indication, they have to be the favorites in this category. Warhammer Online was far and away the most hyped game on this site until EA took over, but they're still holding on to top spot. Do you think Mythic and EA can do this world justice?
