In the end, Murphy deemed it an "Average" MMO with a score of 7. here is an excerpt: For those who haven't played Pirates of the Burning Sea, describing naval combat is a bit hard. My friends who have played Star Trek Online tell me it's not unlike the ship combat in Cryptic's recently released game. I liken it more to a deeper version of Sid Meier's Pirates! sea combat. While there, they took in a number of seminars including one for CCP and EVE Online's resident economist about the ways that company is dealing with the RMT problem in their game. Coming from an independent developer, many players expected something "outside the box" with this new game, and those who did, weren't disappointed by the game's willingness to step away from the more obvious routes of development taken by the big moneymakers in the industry. This past week, we had a chance to get a look at the newly created iPhone app that will allow players to access almost every single aspect of the online game from the comfort of wherever they happen to be.
