2006 Reader's Choice Award Winners

After over a month and two rounds of voting, the results are in. This year saw a pitched battle between CCP's EVE Online and World of Warcraft in a number of categories as more than 60,000 votes were cast in the nomination and final voting rounds.

Reader's Choice Favorite Graphics: EVE Online

CCP’s sandbox sci-fi game, EVE Online ran away with the voting in this category for the second year in a row. Capturing a whopping 61% of the 4983 votes cast in this category, EVE left the competition, EverQuest II (23%) and World of Warcraft ( 15%) in the pixilated dust.

With vote power like that, and screenshots looking the way that they do, it's tough to argue that EVE doesn't deserve this award.

This category was about more than just polygons. In their voting, members were asked to keep in mind animation, art direction and technical quality of the graphics themselves and to try not to consider graphical upgrades or changes on the horizon, but only the graphics as they exist today.
