Revelation Online is the brand new MMORPG in its first closed beta. Made by NetEase and being brought west by My.Com, it's still got a long way to go in terms of localization (a lot of the game is in Russian and Chinese both). But this video gives a good look at character creation, the opening story and tone, plus combat as a Swordmage.
Frankly, I (Bill) find the game to be fun, but also a mess of ideas and UI inconsistencies. It's at once a stereotypical theme park, but also a free-to-roam PVP and sandbox-like experience. The problem is, if you judge the game by this first 30 minutes, it's going to look like nothing more than a blatant clone of say Blade and Soul meets Aion.
Our final review obviously won't come until much later on in the game's official "Open Beta" launch, but what we see now is promising but obviously in need of a lot of rigorous localization work. Honestly, I hope English voices are cast later too. Even if they're done somewhat cheaply, I'm one of the players who doesn't like original Eastern VO.
