Milking is still milking, while i haven't personally subbed to an SOE game myself (unless Vanguard counts), I know better not to since I know people who got badly burnt in SWG.
I think everyone has been SPOILED by Blizzard, to be honest. You have a complaint? A GM is with you within no time. Try that over in EQ2. Takes days or weeks to get a GM to address any problems. You complain WoW doesn't have enough new stuff added? Try playing EQ2 and having a new freaking expansion every few months that you have to PAY for, that is really no more than what Blizzard puts in a PATCH that you get for free. Not only do you get these constant "expansions" there are also "adventure packs" that are tiny little additions of a few new quests in certain isolated areas. You have to buy THOSE too! How would you like to have to PAY for every patch? How would you like to have to have PAID for the few extra quests in that tiny little town in Dustwallow Marsh that was added? If you like that....you can surely go play EQ2. LOTS of "new" content that you have to pay for....EVERY.....SINGLE....TIME.
I would hate that, but that has nothing to do with WoW and just because one MMO is having an even harder time getting upgraded it doesn't justify the other.I think the "let's bitch about WoW brigade" comes running and whining in forums EVERY time a new MMO is about to be released. Here's a fix to your problems: STOP PAYING BLIZZARD if you don't like what they're doing. JUST CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION. There ya go. Problem solved. If people would whine and complain less and talk with their pocketbooks.....eventually....changes would occur. But ALMOST every time I hear someone complaining about WoW, it's followed by, "Well I still play it. I'm just waiting for such and so game to be released." O.O The voice of addiction, I guess, but to me....it really doesn't make any sense.
I am definately not whining, in fact, YOU are the one whining about people whining about WoW. I still enjoy WoW, I just think Blizzard could do alot more and they could if they wanted to but instead we get this cheap upgrade to the recruit a friend program that will satisfy players who don't relise how linear the new rewards really are. More exp upgrades? How about some new quests from 10-60? Blizzard will always take the easy road.Just an FYI....I pre-ordered Warhammer from GoGamer yesterday. Why? Well...it's not because I have stopped enjoying WoW. If I didn't enjoy WoW, I would stop paying for it. It's because I want to see what WAR is like. I want to give it a real chance to shine. I don't think the games sound like they're much of anything LIKE each other, with the exception that they're both MMOs. And what on EARTH is wrong with.....wait for it.....
Playing TWO MMOs! ZOMG!!! Why does everyone act like you have to side with one or the other? Why not have TWO games that you can play and enjoy? Sure sure....that would mean you'd have to divide your spare time between two virtual universes, two guilds, two unique adventures. THAT sounds like gamer heaven to ME. I mean seriously. Is 15 dollars a month SO cost prohibitive that most gamers can't EASILY subscribe to more than one? O.o
I guess with all my posts on here, I'm basically making the SAME point....
The games are likely VERY different "animals," so to speak. Is there some REASON that gamers feel like there can only be ONE "MMO God of the VIrtual World?" Why are we strapping ourselves into such a LACK of freedom? Most of us act like we have to make some definitive and permanent CHOICE that will alter the face of gaming. I think it would alter the face of gaming MORE if we have MORE than one amazing MMO to enjoy. But....apparently I'm alone in thinking this way.
Can't be bothered to go any further in this discussion, chill out for a bit and don't take peoples opinions so seriously, I want WAR to succeed so Blizzard get off their buts and so I have something fresh to play, that's just me.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHHHHHH
Also is there any good oceanic/australian order guilds out there? I'd love to join you!

You reasons are so incredible funny it is hard to believe that people put no shame into posting BS like that. But then again I am sure some other indviduals might feel the same way like you do, kinda the reason why we see these games being dumpdown, cause obviously many complainers have simply NO CLUE what so ever about what they spit onto forums.
you laugh at my reasons?....yet I didnt post any....
L2READ and try to pick up on the CONTEXT of the sentences....

Think about it.
Funcom ruined AoC, the forums helped people make the right decision before wasting their hard-earned cash imo.
Trying the game is the best way to test it and AoC isn't very trial friendly, so people do the next best thing, use the forums and opinions of others and their own past experiances to evaluate the game.
In AoCs case it led to alot of people not even trying the game out.
Other people just got super-pissed and quit the game after relising how full of crap Funcom were.
The rest are still playing it and are enjoying what Funcom has to offer.
So no, forums definately did not destroy this game.
To the people saying "All this over 15 dollars?".
Wake up.
It's not about the money, it's about companies thinking they can just rip people off and get away with it, if something is not done about Failcon then this will just happen again in the near future.
