OP has totally hit the nail here with this post.
Stop bitching start playing and enjoy. Or not - then go back to whatever boring ass grind friendly MMO. WAR has changed the rules here, endgame is actually a GOAL here. Get the City, pillage it, defeat the other side. Not build a house, or a ship... It's about winning a WAR! Winning! First time in an MMO You can actually say: I won!
I liked that paragraph where You write about how Warhammer lore influenced how the dwarfs (dwarves?) look like nowadays. Well it's not only dwarfs, what about orcs? The greenskins were invented by the Game Workshop.
Tolkienian orcs were reigning supreme in D&D, AD&D and other systems through '70s and early '80s till Warhammer's greenskins came to the scene.
Where do You think WoW's orcs come from?
To OP good review.
It was Mythic's biggest mistake to try to appeal to the WoW crowd in the first place.
Why would You try and convince people who play a game which is a direct (and americanised ie dumbed down) rip off of original Warhammer lore to play WAR which is much harder, needs skill and some kind of brain activity?
Hi, just a few questions to ppl who tried beta:
1. Is it possible to hit your own troops during RvR/PvP from siege/defend weapons (cannons, bolt throwers)?
2. Are the penalties for death (in PvE and PvP) equal? Are they harsh?
3. If for example i choose to play a dwarf and my first tier maps are pretty empty, can i go join the fight with the empire vs. chaos where there's more players to join up with? Do i have to reach certain level to join other races' war?
What about EVE online? No kids there, it's pretty hard but it's a sci-fi. Apart from that AoC was 18+ for like 3 weeks and then they changed it to 13+, pricks that they are.
