The massive battles, and their supposed flawless performance. Did a few in various games and it always ended in lag and fps slideshow madness. For me it seems obvious they are lying about this. If they could pull it off I'm the first to admit I was wrong and would scream how these guys are gods and beaten the problem any mmo developer has these days. Tho I couldn't see any code/server structure (that is payable :p) being able to pull that off.
Like a few others before me allready said. We did report bugs, we warned people this wasn't finished or the innovative thing they thought it would be. Heck I even let friends and guildmembers know, they left WoW. Only to come back in 2 weeks. Kinda funny when the first week they were praising it like hell. Once the novelty wore off and they realised about the "beta" state the game was in they were happy to be back.
For me AoC is once again a thing that had potential and then they screwed it. Seems most mmo's are like that lately. I had one SWG, but I'm fed up with "it will get better" attitude. Let's hope Warhammer will release in a finished way, not that it's my game. But this industry needs more stable releases and concurrents.
I think some are a bit confused with their "free" month. Yes when you buy the game and you want your month you'll have to fill in your details and have a CC or any other payment plan. But most popular mmo's have a free trial without a CC NEEDED, they may ask your details but that's it. There are however or were trials like this before (Battleground Europe for instance).
Think it's Funcom's right to choose how they want to set up their trials, but limiting people... well it talks for it's own, you limit possible subscribers.
With no preferences in mind I would say go for a Shaman, Paladin or Druid. That way you can mix and match roles. Then again classes I had the most fun with in order: Rogue, Mage, Paladin, Shaman, Hunter, Warrior, Priest, Warlock, Druid (Last three are under lvl 60 experience tho)
Ah but story's progress... True alot of the WC3 content will be gone, but there's more to the world than that :)
It will decline eventually tho, but who knows when that will be.
About WoW making it harder for the little ones? How? I actually see a lot of new input of players thanks to Blizzard (not saying it's good :p). Wow isn't an indepth, innovative or niche mmo so I can't see them stopping any smaller company. Tho the days that the majority swallows way too bugged games and things that didn't live up to the hype are over and tbh such company's deserve to crash and burn. Had one SWG, never again!
