| Quote | Current MMO dev teams = Keystone cops.A pure comedy of errors, sadly its not as intentional. |
MMO games fail becuase they are crap.
The companies that make them ,deserve to fail also.Currently the mmo companies have been doing all they can to try and dodge the simple fact they turn out crap products.
They are fast enough to point at other companies and hint at this, but never admit even to themselves that they are just as bad.
Devs, including this one, make it sound like they are the only hope. That if they fail, so goes the industry. They tell you "give us more time and more of your money and we can make things right".
But its a lie.If they could have made things right, they would have done so to begin with. Its about incompetence.
Take a normal 5 year old and give him every chance he wants to get a calculus eqaution right. The poor kid can try for years ,and fail everytime. He simply doesnt have the knowledge or skill to get it right.
Thats what MMO companies are right now.People who dont have a clue how to do it right, but keep wanting to try on your dime.
The absolute best thing that could happen to the MMO industry right now, would be for all the current dev teams to go out of business and move on to some industry they might actually be good at.
This way,a new "generation" can take a shot at it.
The money and time the current teams waste, could be better used by people who actually have a clue.
The ability to make that happen is in your hands. When the next "latest best MMO' comes down the drain,it might be complete crap yet again, but were you smart enough NOT to buy it ?Or did you just reward incompetence yet again ?
Reading so called "professional" reviews is mostly a waste of time.
People will try and claim "theres no conspiracy",but they are just putting forth a bad argument and then defeating it.
Its not about some organized conspiracy.its about self interest.
Games get bad reviews, they sell less, they spend less on advertising , both parties lose.
No conspiracy needed. No direct open exchange of bribes needed. Its just self interest.
No need to even consider the effect of the mindset of fans writing reviews.Because even that boils down to self interest.
You want to get an accurate picture of a game, put the time into reading what its players say about it.And for the love of every myth that man embraces, wait til the product is out for a while before leaping.
Its so funny how the supporters dont want the non-suporters to say anything.
The twisted rational that becuase you arent giving a company any more $15 a month handouts, somehow removes the fact that you did give the company money for the product to begin with.
Or the twisted rational that becuase your not playing this very instant, you no longer know exactly what the games condition is.IE - you MUST be hit by the same truck everyday, becuase it might be different in some way the next day, and you wont know for sure til you are hit again.....
Or the twisted logic that the "fans" and company can keep saying whatever they want ,when ever, pushing what some believe to be utter lies to get money from people who dont know better, buts its not okay for those who do know better to keep warning those who dont.Providing the Other side, so to speak.....
Of course it pointless to engage those "people" directly, their goal is obvious, and their desire to get there unbound by logic or morals.
BUT by all means do keep saying your piece ,becuase these "three card monty folks" will always tell you "you dont have the right to tell people the game is crooked ",but that just means you have more reason to do so.
Just ignore them as much as possible and continue to provide the information you have to those who might approach the table. If only one person gets enough information from you, to avoid wasting their money on a poor product, you have succeeded.
And in the end, the MMO companies will have to start being competent or face their deserved end.
If its a bad idea, you can pretty much count on the current MMO dev teams to embrace it.
If its a good idea, you can pretty much count on the current MMO dev teams to screw it up beyond recognition, than embrace it
As for where the future of MMOs is going ?Its hard to see the exact course such an inept industry will take, but you can be sure its unlikely to be good for the customer. The next train wreck is already assured.
Oh for the love of all the myths man embraces, someone PLEASE explain to the above poster how box sales work ................
What aspect of MMORPG's are you more into?
