  • I liked Flyff.

    While the graphics could be called "kiddy" it was at least  a change from the standard elf, dwarf, human toons.   All toons look like cute cartoon characters.  I did get the impression that it would appeal to young children.

    I quit when the game became a grind at higher levels.  I still had hours for fun before that happened and the game is free to play.

  • The only the game I played close to release was EQ2 and it was anything but smooth.  Issues at release included

    • Crash to desktop was common ( I think this depended a lot on whether you had Intel CPU's and NVidia graphics cards)
    • the servers crashed for about 3 days and there was a rollback to an old backup
    • NPC's would just disappear(above or below the world)
    • lots of fundamental gameplay issues that needed fixing.

  • I never knew about 989 Studios.  Wikipedia says 989 Studios was actually owned by Sony, so I was wrong.  The Everquest part of 989 Studios split off as an independent company, Verant Interactive.  Everquest launched in March 1999.  Sony bought Verant Interactive in late 1999. 

    The Wikipedia listings under Everquest, Verant and 989 Studios give slightly different accounts of the company splits and purchases.

    Blizzard has what WOW and was based off one of their besting selling RTS? They have another MMO planned so hopefully be just as good as WOW even though i never got into WOW its still a good game.

    Mythic has DAOC which really wasn't as popular as I would hope was still good. RVR does own. WAR will hopefully be more popular and RVR funner.

    SOE had Everquest and people loved it. They release SWG which sucked people lose faith. Microsoft droppped Vangaurd after rushing it and SOE picked it up and wasn't that good at launch. Everquest 2 was actually ok game. People just love to hate SOE but if SOE ever makes another really awesome MMO people will break down and buy it. Any other MMOS SOE released i never tried.

    NC Soft spits out more MMOs than SOE. SOme could be good I don't really know only play COH?COV really from them. It was ok.

    Bioware has a MMO coming out too not much info at all so don't really know if it  even looks good. They make good RPGS so we can hope.

    Blizzards next MMO and Biowares MMO are the 2 MMOs after WAR that really interest me. No other MMOS in 2008 really interest me besides WAR.

     

    
    Sony did not develop Everquest.  Verant developed and ran the Everquest MMO until Sony bought Verant.

• • Why doesn't Blizzard ban IPs from China?

  • People should be able to play on the server of their choice.

    Do the the WoW servers based in China have servers that are for English, French, Italian or other languages?   Why would they when there are already servers in Europe and the USA that cater for these languages?
