    • Endgame content?
    • LOTRO has plenty of end game.

First you can raid, some of the absolute best raids in any MMO and you don't have to spend months farming faction or reputation to get into the raid instance.

You can PVP, some of the most balanced and fun PVP I've ever experienced in an MMO.   I feel its the absolute best PVP of any MMO out.   Not only can you PVP with your primary character but you can also get onto a Monster.   Monster play is amazing and the most PVP fun to be had in any game.    In addition if you like a challange, try leveling up your monster skills in a full PVP environment.  Most of you can't handle it.   For those who can you're rewarded with an extremely powerful Monster Character.

You can level up alts.    Lots of variety in the classes, and all of them are fun and needed in a group.   Quite a nice change from other MMOs.    Yes that is right, EVERY Class is very much needed in a group or Raid  in LOTRO.

Crafting, I've not done much of this, just not enough time with everything else.    Seems extremely nice though and the crafted gear is either the best or near the best in the game.

Role Play.   Who doesn't want to relive all of the adventures in the books.   I remember seeing the three trolls that were killed by the sun.   I was just wondering around and came across these trolls.  I spent an hour just looking around and remembering the passages in the books.   Actually playing LOTRO got me reading the books again, first time in nearly 20 years.    I already finished the Hobbit, better than I remember and am on the Trilogy.   Imagine that a computer game that gets you to read a book!

Community.   Hands down the best in any MMO and why else play an MMO if not for the community.   Mostly extremely helpful and friendly.    Even the few idiots, can do very little to harm you.

Economy.    Very healthy and inflation not too bad.

Developers.  Seem excellent, bit too much of a nerf on the last patch for my class a Loremaster, but they listen and follow their own vision.    Usually their vision is right, and when its not they back off a bit.   Also lots of free content.    If MoM is half as good as the developers are telling us, its going to be the best expansion ever released for an MMO.

Overall LOTRO, while not perfect, is the best game by far in the genre.

    • Endgame content?
    • LOTRO isn't a game for  "MMO Vampires" (my new term and bet it catches on) so let me define it.   An MMO Vampire is someone who spends 20 hours a day behind their computer screen sucking the life out of an MMO.   They will spend months on end running through content in an MMO sucking its life to become more powerful than the other gamers.

Eventually these MMO Vampires will suck the MMO dry and begin seeking a fresh victim.    Certain companies like SOE will add endless road blocks in hopes of slowing these no lifer vampires down.   They will add endless xp grinds, flagging systems, reputation, other methods of poor game design to stop these vampires.   All to no avail, because you CAN NOT KILL that which is already dead.

LOTRO realized trying to stop these MMO vampires is impossible.   They have devoted their meaningless life to sucking an MMO dry.   So LOTRO decided to remove all of the poor game design mechanics.   Let the vampires run through their MMO, and leave.     While the rest of the gamers realize all the depth LOTRO has and enjoy it greatly.   Even more so since the MMO vampires are not around craving more blood.

If you want to join your fellow MMO Vampires, I highly recommend seeing the original coven in EQ.   Quite a few moved on to WoW and even a few of the younger ones to AoC.    Many are waiting patiently for their next fresh victim, WAR.

Avoid MMO Vampires, they hate their lives (reason they are endlessly trying to escape in an MMO)  and you're nothing more than a body to get them more blood.

    • Why no real PvP in this game?
    • I really believe the majority of MMO gamers have to be led by the hand to learn anything new.    The best MMO PVP experience is in LOTRO, of any current MMO for Orcs and Dorks.

First you can take your own character out, although do not do so until 50 unless you want eaten by monsters.    If you're too impatient or bored to wait for your own character to get to 50 you can create an instant level 50 monster.    Here kiddies is the key, that level 50 monster isn't as powerful as a level 50 Freep (Free player) you do indeed need to level that level 50 Creep.

This leveling isn't done in some PVE safety zone, no if you want to level that CREEP to being as powerful, or more so than a FREEP you do it in the PVP zone!    This was an incredible idea by Turbine and I find it ironic the people whining about no PVP fail to realize this is indeed the best pvp system since Guild Wars was released.

I've played both sides and if you devote the time to 'leveling' you 50 Creep you are indeed more powerful than most of the Freeps.     Adding more zones to PVP in would likely ruin the experience because the population wouldn't be as high in a single zone.   Meaning less PVPing.

MMO gamers need to stop whining so much and use their brains, do some research, read about what is already available.   The PVP in LOTRO is incredible and some of the most balanced pvp ever in an MMO.

    • never again will a great mmorpg exist.
    • We as gamers can not blame Blizzard, we need to blame the majority of ourselves.    We demanded dumbed down game play, and the companies delivered.     Remember, be careful what you ask for; because you might get it.

    • Worst mmorpg I have ever played!
    • Everquest is lacking in both quality game play and graphics.   In fact EQ has some of the absolute worst game play mechanics of any game, ever released.      There is nothing challenging about EQ, everything takes time to obtain and is obtainable by anyone with enough time spent.

Want quality game play with a challenge, check out a little game called Portal.    Want a quality MMO with great graphics and game play, check out LOTRO.    Want a very dated game, ran by the worst gaming company in the business, with the most bitter community, check out EQ.
