1. You really, truly, do not like the game for some reason only you are privileged to. To me this is odd because there are so many other games out there - mmo, pc or console based - that suck even worse than AoC. You feel a need to let the world know why this game is bad, and you do just that by flaming everyone related to it.
2. AoC is surprisingly good and is a real threat to your favorite game - may it be WoW, LoTRO, Everquest, GW or what ever - so you feel forced to try and push it down into the ground. You need for people not to like AoC so they can continue playing your favorite instead.
3. You simply do not care about the game one way or another but you love to indulge yourself in the spirit of forum posting. You love hacking down on games just to create a reaction.
Maybe there are more, sure there are, but i might be close to one of which that you represent am i not? Ladies and gentlemen, start you flaming!!
I think some of your points are quite valid despite the people that will just flame you without even trying to understand what your saying.
It seems to be a new phenomenon of trying to discredit a game to a point where people will see so much negativity towards a game like AoC that they will not play it , meaning that the person or persons that dont play it will stay with the Haters game.

cards = FAIL
Legends of Norrath ( Cards ) = Success
Ha ha. Sure. I am afraid that compared with other fantasy MMOs both EQ and EQ2 perform badly - not just against the dominant sector leader, WoW, but even against lesser equivalents like LOTRO. And cards haven't helped boost their performance.
EQ and EQ II have both been extremely successful games and still have a large dedicated fanbase, LON is successful in its own right and has added a refreshing new element to EQ and EQ II.
I personally like the fusion of Card elements into Mmo's and of course some dont, but you cannot deny that these games can be succesful in their own right. I'm sure a good SWG CCG could be very popular if done right.
I think their introduction is a decision made by someone who simply doesn't understand how the game needs to work if needs to be usccessful. For example, does WoW have such a card game? No. What this card game represents is just another 'quick fix' - like 'badges', like 'super HP bosses', 'like new instances'. SWG refuses to devote the limited artistic, programming and developer resources to giving the player base what it wants and asks for. Why? Because, even though many of us firmly believe it would deliver the long term revenue and subs increase that SWG desperately needs, quick fixes are faster and cheaper.
Thankyou for your points, though I think if you were still playing Pre CU/ NGE and they had of introduced the CCG element you probably would have welcomed it.
I do understand that because your a Vet that your views on any addition to the game they make now will not be welcomed because you dont want anything to do with the game in the current state ..... even after all said and done it still could be a good game and thats all I'm saying.
I do sympathize with the Vets tho .

1.5 years ago I was a VG fanboi listening to Sigil's lies; I was seeing a huge world with potential. Sadly, to me the game almost hasn't improved after 1.5 years. (performance has always been good for me, even in beta and during the first month after release, before I quit the game).
The game still lacks atmosphere due to its very poor/minimal engine and it looks like 50% of its designers are only amateurs. Some things are really good, but so many are poorly done. This is very sad as it could be one of the very best mmos out there. As it is now I don't even want to play it for free (got the free month but can't make myself login even though I tried 10 or 20 times during 3 days, the game's execution is one of the worst I have seen... I can't make myself login into this unpolished world).
VG has some very poor lightning. It doesn't even have proper shadows. Nothing apart from characters and trees has a shadow in this game - world objects, houses etc.. have no shadow. The game looks great at night, but during the day it looks fake/bland due to the lack of shadows. We are in 2008, this is a 2007 game, hellooo?
Then, there is almost no lightning. I.ex lights, fires, etc... have no light hallos. Things like fireplaces light hallos in the distance at night make for some great atmosphere. VG has nothing like this.
Then, there are almost no world particle effects. Things like birds in the skies, butterflies (I am not talking about mobs, this is about "atmosphere") etc... are almost inexistant in this game. Again, this is about world life and atmosphere, where is it?
And where are the things like water reflections, etc... , the today mmorpg game engine basic features?
Then, there is no life in this world. I see dead cities in a soulless world. NPCs don't live there. The game lacks the basic scripting that gives life to mmo worlds.
Also, characters look like plastic barbie dolls and the armor doesn't look fun. I don't want to go out there and work for hours to level and get or craft the stuff. I can't "connect" with my character. This is one of the most important mmorpg basic features - character improvement - that is lacking here.
Finally, VG has some of the poorest animations I have seen. The character running looks so bad, it seems the characters don't fit in the world, they seem out of sync. The fighting animations are so slow... And for Chists sake, WHAT is this ridiculously gay jumping animation?
So, the bottom line for me is that after more than 1.5 years the VG game world polish is still only 25% there at most. I see dead cities in a soulless world with no atmosphere. Compared to this some other games like Lotro or Aoc feel so much more immersive and alive.
When I play an mmorpg I am of course looking for some gameplay, but the other 50% I am looking for is a world to immerse myself into. Atmosphere. VG doesn't have this, yet.
I think you must be playing a different Vanguard to the rest of us.
Which IP would you like to see become Bioware's new MMO?
