Your post is both thought provoking and original. Nobody has ever suggested moving on before. Do you, perhaps, have a newsletter I could subscribe to?

It's just too much like Vanguard's release where the same thing happened.which is why I keep pleading with you to STOP giving them false blame for the DESIGN issues of the game, and instead, give them the true blame for the poor marketing and distribution. They didn't cause the basic systems of potbs to fail because of an early release. FLS screwed up the design systems all on their, well before SOE was adding it to the station pass. SOE made major mistakes with the boxes, codes, and ads.
Believe me, I know that FLS is responsible for the poor gameplay.
While I dislike soe as much as the next guy (I'm never buying a product related to them again) they don't deserve the blame for PotBS or even Vanguard. Both of those games failed to live up to expectations due to their respective dev teams, not soe.
I don't know how many different ways I can say it: I have *never* said that SOE was responsible for PotBS' poor gameplay.

I was already gone when the changes hit (I played from shortly after launch to late 2004), but I don't think the CU-NGE stuff is the only reason for the low current population. It probably would have dropped dramatically anyway just because the game aged, new games came along, people got bored and moved on, etc., although you're probably right that the changes had a lot to do with it.
I think sometimes people blame it all on the changes alone -- as if the game would still have 250k players today if not for that.

I honestly don't believe that. I think that if they had buckled down and fixed the original sandbox game and added content on that framework that we would be in a golden age of SWG right now. People getting bored with WoW would be flocking to a game with more depth and meaning and SWG might actually have a decent subscriber base.

We keep asking for some screenshots of heavily populated servers because they keep insisting that there are thousands of players on every server but amazingly the only screenshot that has been posted that showed a large group of people was a big bunch of afkers pet grinding.
You vets make blanket statements based on individual opinion and try to pass them as fact, then use made up "stats" that no one can prove either way.
Anybody can sign up for the free trial and take a look at the population for themselves. I tell curious people to do it all the time so they can see we're *not* exaggerating.
Which console would you like to see MMOs released for?
