Ah that kinda sucks then!
To be honest, most RvR zones are empty. There's usually something going on in at least one zone, it's just finding out where!
I found out about these 2 from my 2 guilds on my characters. I reckon guilds are pretty important for finding RvR. Both my guilds participate in a lot of Open RvR.
I play on EU Eltharion (Open RvR) and there's always something going on. Each public quest has a constant rolling population, there's almost always 3-7 people doing the PQs. I'm basing this on the first 20 levels to be fair, but so far I haven't had any problems.
Earlier today there were 2 busy World RvR areas at the same time as each other (Maybe more, but 2 for sure).... One was the low rank area in the Chaos/Empire zone which was about 50-60 people (20-30 a side) The other was the mid-rank area in Elf territories with close to 150 people all fighting over keeps. This is on a Tuesday evening!
Scenarios don't seem to ruin my server! But I can understand a low population server having problems :-( I'm not sure if that's purely thanks to scenarios or not!
Some of the roleplay tools don't seem fully implemented yet, for example the emotes are incomplete. However I wouldn't give it 1/10 just because I haven't seen roleplaying. If the potential is there, roleplaying will happen! I gave it an average rating because the game is not the perfect environment for roleplaying (however, much much better than a game like Guild Wars) however I think the back story is incredible and sooner or later some great roleplaying communities will emerge. 1/10 would imply, there will never be roleplaying in this game... EVER... And that, I KNOW, is not true.
As for the community, I give it an average mark because... No, they're aren't the most friendly bunch. But when people do talk, they're usually pretty sound. In Age of Conan there is a LOT of talking, but a lot of the big mouths are morons. In Warhammer, people don't talk a lot but when they do, it's usually spelled well and put across in a mature manner.
Well there are two sides of "Fun" in MMOs:
1. Sandbox fun, where you make you're own fun with the tools you are given. A good example being SWG and UO. A bad example being Roma Victor, if anyone played it!
2. Theme park fun, where you are given specific things to do. Sometimes it can just end up like a treadmill. Sometimes it can end up very fun with great story telling and twists and turns. Some good examples of fun theme park games being; Guild Wars and City of Heroes. A bad example being a lot of these Asian grind MMOs like Hero Online and what have you.
Warhammer falls into the Theme Park category without a doubt, there's no arguing that. But with there being 4 distinct areas of the game (5 if you include mindless grinding) you're not going to get bored of doing quest after quest after quest, that's for sure!
Hi guys! I wrote a rather in depth bit of feedback for WAR (Relatively speaking). It came out a little like a brief review, so for those are reluctant to try WAR (As I was), here's the lowdown!
The game is not perfect in every way but I honestly think it's the best MMO out there at the moment! Let's have a run down of what I thought:
Graphics (8.0) - The graphics are pretty good, not as good as Age of Conan. The art style is similar to World of Warcraft but is more realistic as opposed to "cartoony"
Sound (8.0) - The music is pretty good, as you come to expect from a high budget MMO, as are the sound effects. The voices are MUCH better done than on WoW. Some of the remarks are extremely funny. In particular, the Greenskins and Dwarfs
Roleplay (5.0) - I think the potential for roleplay is there, there's an extremely good backstory with each of the races. However, I think the roleplaying tools are limited and I am yet to see any roleplaying on my server.
Value (9.0) - No explanation needed for this really. It's just good value.
Fun (10.0) - The game is extremely fun, there are 4 main parts to the game; Questing, Public Quests (Google it if you don't know what they are), Scenarios (ie Battlegrounds to the WoW-minded) and World RvR. The first 3 each give good experience. In fact, scenarios probably give the best experience/hour. Which is incredibly refreshing!! Public quests have some of the best rewards and solo quests are somewhere in between. World RvR is just that.... World RvR and the experience and rewards are inconsistent.
Community (6.0) - Not the most friendly bunch! Luckily, thanks to public quests, there is a lot of grouping involved if you chose to!
Performance (5.0) - I say this because on a good computer, the performance is perfect. However on less up-to-date computers it's quite choppy and laggy. You expect games like AoC to be laggy on lower end computers, however I don't feel the WAR graphics are so stunning that you should need a high-end computer. Maybe this will be tweaked over time. But make sure you have 1GB RAM MINIMUM. 2GB is much better though.
Customer Service (9.0) - I haven't had personal experience with the customer service, however considering how new the game is and how much feedback they must be getting, I've gathered they're relatively good at responding
Overall (7.5) - A great game, but as it stands, it's not perfect but I think the flaws it DOES have are fixable. The content is great, it's only performance that needs improved and the community needs developed, which will happen over time! I think everyone is just in their own world seen as it's just launched. Do give it a go! If you're PvP minded, you'll love leveling by PvPing!
