I first noticed regnum on mmorpg.com, quickly checked out the home site, and wasn't too impressed...
but 2hours and 14minutes later, the game was all settled in on my computer and I had a morning and afternoon to waste.
I find myself looking at the choice between 3 realms, I like the desert, so i go with Ignis. The Game is giving me a choice between 3 races.... A Dark elf? not bad, but not my cuppa tea. Next? A regular looking human? Not bad... But then I see the last race of the realm, the Molok, and I find myself in the middle of a Molok character creation. Tattoos? check. Tall, or Short? Tall, I want my character to tower over his foes.
15 minutes later, I have my Molok standing there, all geared up and ready to quest. The resolution was bad, so i switch it to 1280x1024 and make my Molok-vision a bit clearer.
Set to go, I walk awkwardly and in circles, confused by the uncommon key controls.... easy to get used to though, so I right-click my mouse to change my view and use the WASD keys to get hustlin'. The Game graphics weren't BAD, but nice enough to enjoy the screen im looking at. I accept my first quest, telling me to talk to someone else, so I talk to npc#2, he tells me to talk to npc#3, and npc#3 tells me to get on those beetles' ass.
I had actually forgotten to change my class from warrior to mage, (Im usually a sword&shield kind of guy, but i wanted to try out the mage) but since i had gotten started, I decided to roll with my Tall, Tattooed Molok warrior. I try double Clicking the beetle, but only to find out I have to WALK up to it, which isn't so bad, and makes it actually somewhat more interactive and fun. Beetle heads start rollin' and quests are flyin'.
Hours later, I find myself already level 8 and with two friends. One was an argentinian, the other was another friendly Canadian. We had done quests together and the EXP was drowning my screen. I take a small break for lunch, catching myself making a medeocre (spelling?) sanwhich, excited to get back to the game.
Regnum so far has been an extremely fun experience, a bit slow and first, but quickly becomes the only thing on your mind. It had some small features that I loved...
1. entering buildings... makes it realistic.
2. the choice of weapons.
3. The community.
there are many other dope features of this game, but ill finish up this titanic sized review on this game. If you read till this point, all I say is, Thanks and I'll be adding more to this game and I progress in it.
If you need help, or pvp etc etc. my IGN would be Aztehk, don't dis me for the name, I ain't creative. :P
Overall, 8.5/10. Very nice.
Would you rather see a game release pushed back a year or have the game release witha few bugs that will be fixed?
