Actually if you'd stfu it would make everyone happy. Christ, they only asked a simple question.

If it doesn't it is because you have hyped it up too much in your head.

Oh....I never believe the hype. Especially when it comes to computer games, advertisements or politics. I've been on this Earth long enough to know that if it sounds too good to be true, 99% of the times it IS too good to be true! I'm like Harry Truman....you gotta show me!

Awesome!  Then I think you will be pleasantly surprised.  I will give you my scenario:

I was burnt out on MMO's and I have a little girl on the way so I had canceled my WAR pre-order and had settled with just playing things like CoD4 or TF2.  Then I got an email from WAR saying I was accepted to the Closed Beta so I thought what the hell.  I hadn't been following it all for a while and I had no  expectations.

I was totally floored when I started playing.  I immediately started having a blast, and I found that even with my high maintenance wifeykins I could still login for 30 minutes and have a ton of fun.  I still played like a beast though and had some 6-7 hour play sessions and it felt the same amount of fun whether I played for 30 mins or 6 hours.  Since I had no expectations I let the game teach me everything instead of reading about it on forums or in podcasts where your mind makes up it's own version of what it will be like.

Anyway I re-ordered my pre-order, and I can see myself playing this for years to come.  Try not to have too many expectations and just experience the game.  I think you will find yourself having fun in no time.

Me too. I have pretty much been playing TF2 exclusively since December. I stopped following MMo's a long time ago. When it gets close to release and if it still sounds good I check them out. I found WAR to be quite pleasant. It gave me that feeling I used to get when I played EQ years ago. Nothing has given me that feeling since I quit playing EQ. Well I did find it for awhile in DAoC too.

With the way grouping was set up in WAR combined with things like public quests, there is no reason why a person can't hop on for an hour or two and instantly jump into some action. Will it be for everyone? Nope and nothing ever will. But to an old man like me that was raised on EQ and DAoC, I've had fun again.

no it was cool the first year or two. Beyond that and it's just become stupid flame bait. the best part is a lot of the flamers have probably done their time in the game. But it's just so cool to bash it because the group here bashes the game. Gotta fit in with the others you know.

Two things you can expect in every single thread here.

Someone could post: Nice weather today

response #1:Oh yeah, wow sucks you stupid noob loser. You wow players are a bunch of immature poopie pants.

response #2: SOE are teh debil. They killed muh SWG.

disclaimer:Not a fanboy and I do not subscribe to WoW. It's just after years of being on these boards the lot of you have become too predictable.

    • What’s the story for us “casuals”?

Anyway, is WAR the type of game where you don’t stand a chance unless you play until your eyes bleed for months on end in order to obtain the most uber leet gear so you can pwn the latest noobs? Or is it the type of game where someone who has a life can come into the game to have some fun PVP action and actually contribute to the battles going on?

If it’s the former, I won’t be a lasting subscriber. While I know there is a market for that type of game, it’s one I will not be playing. If it’s the later, they’ll have my money for many months to come.

This is the problem I have with casual players. They assume they should have everything available to them without working for it, and those that work for it there for have no life. The problem with this mentality is its no different than a kid crying about how "its not fair" and "i want it nowwwww".

The problem with Casual players is they want instant gratification and hate it when rpgs allow for more work = more reward. The problem is you people are playing the wrong genre and expecting the wrong things in regards to that genre.

Casual players are the cancer of the gaming industry, they help provide fun instant action games but at the same time end up causing rpgs to be dumbed down and fps's as well as some other games to be made shorter rather than drawn out.

WAR will allow you have your action, but you still have to work for what you achieve. Those who work more will achieve more.

Dont like it? Play a different genre.

      Spot on.

      no.
