    • Parties and not much "grind"
    •   So I've played Last Chaos and Archlord then back to Last Chaos. One thing I don't much like about them is neither game is good for parties. I like parties. Secondly both take forever. As I was playing LC today I was wondering what would make the game better and I was thinking maybe if you bought skills and stats and stuff with gold rather than taking months to lvl.  (Do any games have you "buy" skills with gold rather than spend hours lvling to get them... or something similar to this? Kinda like faction on Guild Wars I"m thinking)

I really like the gameplay of Last Chaos but the leveling is way too tedious for any sane human being.

I really don't know what I"m looking for exactly I've installed and tried a lot of games. Most of them I can't figure out what I'm doing or where I am the controls are bad or annoying whatever.

I guess I like Last Chaos except for the grind and that as one person put it "the party system is broken." Yes LC and Archlord are both free ones I have absolutely no money right atm.

I was killing something called a poison myst in Last Chaos today. It takes approximately 20 seconds to kill and gives me .2% experience. The poison mist is lvl 39 and my char is 32. Then I find out there was still an event for double xp.  So in actuality I was killing mobs that took 20 seconds (and of course all by myself) for .1% xp at lvl 32. For those of you who don't know the current highest achievable level in Last Chaos USA is 105.  (Another character I have is being apprenticed by a lvl 100 player. When I asked her how long it takes to level, she said "depends on how much money you want to spend" and then went on to encourage me to spend $500 at the cash shop)

(Secondly Last Chaos precludes "power leveling" because they have a skills system based on skill experience points that you get for killing mobs along with regular experience points. Unlike regular experience, however, skill experience is highest when you are fighting mobs closest to your lvl. So in order to get your skills you have to get less xp and thereby lvl slower. Although this system has been improved I did what is called "sp farming" from lvls 1-31 and had just enough skill points to get all of my skills up to lvl 32. After that there are fewer skills but they require more skill points so although acquiring skill points is easiest pre-30, if you do nothing but sp farm until then you have slightly more than the sp required for your level so effectually you are basically sp farming through the entirety of the game, which again precludes you from getting as much xp as you could get by power lvling so they have succeeded in slowing you down on purpose.)

So... does anyone have a game for me with gameplay similar to this but with better partying and less grind?

I've played Guild Wars too, and that has some of these issues fixed, but maybe I'm just stupid, it didn't seem like there was a lot of game content to Guild Wars.

Thanks ahead of time for any help....

    • Ancient History game
    •   Are there any of these kind of games that are based in really ancient history?

Like back in the days of the Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, et al?

The only one I can think of that i've heard of that's even close is Roma Victor... but I also heard that was a dreadfully hard game to learn too.

Idk I really like the original Empire Earth. It goes from like cavemen throwing rocks and using clubs all the way up to robotic warfare. Sweet stuff.

    • best free mmo?
    • I vote Archlord. I've played mostly that and Last Chaos. Archlord took the place of LC because it has better graphics.... I can run it full screen and I can't with LC.

Archlord does take too long to lvl up, like every one of these games. The biggest problem with Archlord is sometimes if it lags you can get attacked and killed when u can't attack back. That's really annoying. There's supposed to be episode 3 coming out sometime in August and I hope they fix.

    • LF unique ways to get xp, not a "grind-fest"
    •  So I got introduced to MMORPGs via an ad for Last Chaos. (Good game, too long to lvl- my playing quit when my account got stolen) Then I started playing Archlord. (Awesome graphics and fun game, but again too long to lvl and these games always seem to have one right way of doing things and you can't go back and fix it very easily.)

Then I started playing Guild Wars to get away from grinding. Again awesome graphics and whatnot, but idk something missing.

I've downloaded a million mmos and most of the time I can't figure out where I am or what I'm doing so I just quit. lol

Anyhow, I know there are some games not based on lvling at all. (Idk if that's what I want or not) And I saw one the other day (Tales in the Desert?) that wasn't based on combat.  Well I was thinking, is there a game where I can have something like crafting as my main job? I think RF online is like that. (I've gotta wait about 8 hours just to finish a patch...)

I guess I wanna do some combat, but not a total grind-fest and some other things. (Common complaint I know, but hey...)

I liked how Last Chaos lets you create your own weapons/armor out of raw materials, you can go cut down herbs and harvest energy waves and whatnot, which is so cool, but you don't get any xp for it. :(

Archlord has very little of this, but the ransacking/carving/skinning thing to make potions and "food", which I think is flawed, fails way too often... which would be ok if you got exp for it.  Archlord is really cool in many ways, but you gotta spend forever swinging a stupid blunt weapon that misses half the time at werewolves in a cave to get your way up to lvl 30 before you can pvp, which you don't get any exp for either, once you can do it.

Catching my drift anyone? Is RF online my best bet? (if it ever gets done patching...) I d/led it awhile ago but I couldn't figure out what I was doing or where I was so I quit. lol Do you get exp for crafting if you're a specialist? Being a driver might be cool.

Oh yeah... that's another thing I like, is classes that are specific like that. Idk a lot about it, but I think Shadowbane is that way, right? On the other hand, versatility is cool too, like in guild wars, you can have a mix of two classes, so you could theoretically have a monk with a bow... (i tried that once )

Idk if anyone has any helpful suggestions, I'd like to hear em.

Yay I'm 1/5 done with the RF patch! LOL At this rate, I'll come back Sunday night and it might be done.
