What I do not get though, is this game was in development for something like 4 years and was still released unfinished.
Not to sound like a fan boy, but WOW changed the face of the MMO industry forever. They released a game with a lot of content and took what was already successful with other MMOs and improoved upon them. The main reason you release an MMOO is because you want people to pay a subscription fee and then bags of gold will fall from the sky and you can be weathy beyond your dreams. So why screw something like that up?
I think this is why Warhammer is taking as much time as possible to get things right because they know who they are competing against. You can not release a MMO today without competing against WOW and Mythic is well aware of this. Apparently Funcom was not which only goes to speak of the ideocy of Gaute Godager when he said this in an interview "If you've been to McDonalds for four or five years, and had your burger and your coke, sometimes it's great to just have a great steak and a glass of good wine. I think that's what we're trying to do. It's more expensive, it's not for everyone and perhaps it's not as easily accessible as WOW is. But it could be more meaty. [laughs]"
So AOC is the steak we have been waiting for?
WoW was in no way a polished game when it launched. However, it was very playaböe and enjoyable, unlike AoC.
was about to say that same thing hroth. good call on bringing that to people's attention.
AEGIS is packing up shop from AOC and moving back to WOW. we have around 60-70 people all leaving at once or have already left. I myself wont be renewing. my sub cancles on the 27th ive already went back to gorefiend, and even started a horde on magtheridon for shits and giggles to join my guildies.
its a shame cause the game in of itself was good, but the fumbling antics of funcom messing up patches, not having features at launch while nerfing the hell out of the wrong classes all spells slow disaster for AOC.
this is indeed good news, i may very well resub again :P. but the question remains will the money u make scale well to the now improved xp rate? given how much stuff cost. i remember a damascus sword went from 60 mill to around 150 mill+ thats why i was gimped I couldnt afford it only the doom armor. I was stuff with a +4 SLS grade C sword, not entirely bad but still a bit gimped.
being forced to dual box just to make ends meet is a pain. lets hope overall the improvements are made to other parts of the game to scale well into the new fandangle xp rate. this is of course good news for L2 cause despite its grind i always loved the community of the game, but the economy was unbearable. thats what turned me off it felt more like work than fun. here's hoping....
i play AOC every day practically and Xfire doesnt track squat of my hours I play so i can imagine its the same for alot of people so frankly the statistics on AOC is possibly inaccurate. though the possibility of decreased numbers are there, but with my inactive xfire not tracking squat it goes the same for quite a few people so who really knows what the true numbers are.
possibility but who knows until they release any concrete info related to this. but i reckon its on par with WoW pre BC. I personally dont like the game feels too much like WOW 1.5 with emphasis on RVR PVP
