Eve Online is my suggestion it has an older age range than most other mm's and has a very complex pvp system.
Has been very popular for the last 5 years or so.

- Progressive Skill System Games?
Are there any good mmo's with progressive skill systems out there like Entropia universe?
Progressive Skill System - For those of you that don't know it where you gain skills in what you do .... there is no placing points on the skills you want even though you have been using a pistol and keep skilling up your longswords lol.
Also time based skill systems like Eve are nice as long as you can get into it in the beta stages to be sure that you can stay at the top in total skills otherwise theres no catching up.

Eve online has a free trial (14 days) although if you can make enough isk (in game money) you can buy time codes with it which makes the game kinda free :)
