• • The Death of DAoC....

  • I guess I am in the nice sub category that they are shooting for.

    DAoC in my opinion was SUCH a good time I cant see there being a better game that I would want to play.

    so if your telling me your going to make another 3 sided war game and they are going to rebalance the classes spells and races...... why wouldnt I play it insted of wow and why would I play something new in war?

    
    WAR will be LIKE DAOc but it wont BE daoc. Running around with your gang of 8 at super 200% speed looking for a fight against another gang of 8 is just too much fun. WAR may be the next best thing... but I want what was the best thing "to me."

    An RPG was and will always be in my opinion.... forming that perfectly ballanced party and going out to take on all comers.

  • this game has collision detection and abilities for tanks to take hits for their partners.....

    so just like daoc.. the tank you cant kill can keep the caster alive, thus making the tank the most important part of your pvp group... just like daoc.

    didnt you guys watch ANY of the old nolby pride videos from daoc? go find them right this instant so you know what mythic has in mind

    this game will be twice as elitest as wow ever was because its a harder game than wow was and has gamers comming from older games than wow. so your basic kid mindset of "yay I wanna tank with a 2hander" will get you booted from a party. I dont know why they even put hybrids in the ga,me after we saw what happened in daoc.

    and all the tanks can use 2h and the tanks can use shield.

    Are you sure those aren't in there already? That sounds like a pretty reasonable and desireable mechanic to me.

     

    Thats because im a reasonable person and dont usualy go overboard.

    and NO.. they are not in the game.... but they are in daoc.

    and lets not forget DAOC.

    none of the Tanks were elves, none of the hybrids were elves and none of the stealthers were elves. so only half the casters were casters, the others were keens... so elves were hardly "popular"

    If a class sucks people wont play it. the "coolest" class in DAOC was the THANE. Just imagine Thor from the Avengers comics..  you do melee with a 2handed hammer, you call down lightning bolts and you can summon giant hammers of electricity to fall out of the sky and strike your enemies (the coolest graphic I have ever seen in a video game for a spell)

    Everyone started out playing a thane, but the class wasnt all it was cracked up to be and a total flop so everyone quit it. In the end with all the hybrids and all the rogues and all the hunter.. the 2 best classes in the game? The tank that tanked, The healer that healed .. imagine that.
