However, if the other content isn't on par with the quality people are accustomed to no amount of RvR glory will amend the situation as AoC has shown. Will be interesting to also see how they have solved the drop in frames per second rate that most games are so concerned with massive PvP scenes: if you put 600 players in the same screen casting spells I could wager that either a) game will be most unplayable for most or b) the effects have to be drasticly reduced in intensity which then again might drive away people who look for eye-candy.
All-in-all, more from the gameplay features has to be released and showed in public and I would atleast as a customer like to see some "actual" footage instead of glorified promo-pictures where, of course, everything looks just about perfect. After all, it is not the perfect scenario players will play this game and even then it has to play smoothly and, most importantly, be fun. Hope but for the best to WAR but would love to get a chance to try the game before giving it a pole position on the grand prix to beat WoW.
One would think people looking for "eye candy" would have a decent system able to run the currenlty available "eye candy". Do people complain they can't play Crysis on a computer built 5 years ago? (I really don't know the answer to this... maybe they do)
From a business standpoint, another delay would be a really poor decision. The marketing people at EA are not idiots, they recognize that within the next few month is the best time period for a successful release. Competing with WoW and the WotLK expansion is not sound business. It's best to draw players away when they are bored with the current content. If having less features at release produces a successful game that raises the MMORPG bar for the industry in the long run, I'm all for it.
Now there is certainly a caveat to this. If the game is simply not polished enough or not fun enough to release within the next few months, it would be worse to release early than it would be to postpone and release with more competition. Only the developers know the true state of the game though (the beta testers may have a good idea, but they don't know everything about it). We will have to rely on the developers to make the best choice, and I'm sure they will as they want the hard work they put into creating WAR to yield a successful game.

Mark Jacobs made an unpopular decision recently in regards to WAR. I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that by now. What he also stated was the difficulty in coming to that decision and the reasoning the WAR team used to justify it. He presented everything in a clear manner and didn't try to hide anything.
My question is why do people refuse to take this at face value? Why does there always have to be some ulterior motive behind every decision? I refuse to believe that Mythic is trying to pull a trick on it's WAR following. I also don't believe that this means WAR is somehow underdeveloped at this point. Mark stated that they don't have enough time to include everything they want to for release. They want to include a TON of stuff. Turns out they can only include a LOT of stuff in a reasonable time frame. A lot of fun stuff at that.
If you take the decision and reasoning for it at face value, extending the simple courtesy of not questioning their moral integrity without having reason to do so, this doesn't look at all like something terrible. Yes, it's unfortunate. If anyone tells you they prefer having the classes and cities removed, they are most likely lying to you or themselves. We would all like to have everything in, but if the people who work on the game every single day of their lives say it will be better this way, it's very likely that it will be better this way.
In conclusion, cut them some slack. They are just people making a cool game. They are not "out to get you" or "screw you out of money". They are taking advantage of capitalism by doing their best to create a product that brings value to the public (and cash commensurate to that value).
You asked about face value. Well, what about 24 hours before the announcement. Was everything they said a face value thing? See if what we knew 24 hours before the announcement wasn't good enough and subject to change, then why is this situation any different? It cuts both ways.
I would say they've always been honest with the WAR following. They've told us much of what they want to do with the game, then they told us what they can't do within the time frame they are working within (at least they can't put it up the standards they want). Are you saying you think they've lied to the WAR following?
What they say doesn't matter because people like you give them free ride to change it at anytime. Get it yet?
Maybe I just realize the truth? The truth being Mythic doesn't owe me a god damn thing and I don't have to subscribe to their game. Such is the capitalistic system. You're right in what they say doesn't matter. If they produce a good product, people will buy it. If they produce crap, people won't.
Sounds to me like you're holding on to some sense of entitlement that is undeserved. You are entitled to nothing from Mythic. They can change whatever they want about their game any time they want. Also, they never actually promised anything... interesting that.

I do take what the Developers of WAR say at face value but I cannot honestly say they are telling us the whole truth.
I just cant buy the fact that this choice wasnt made due to money issues or greed. If they dont have any money problems, why not push back the release date and allow more people into beta? Why cut the cities and the classes just to release the game?
If the game is not 100% ready with a full feature list then why release the game? Why not push back the date and tell the fans that "Hey its not ready yet, sorry, we need more time". Something along those lines would not only put the fanbois at easy but it would gain more fans that were waiting ont he fence.
The only reason they would release a game without a full feature list complete is money, either they are low on funds or they just want to make a quick buck. Either way its bad for the gamers of the MMO industry. Either way its another company not able to deliver a finish product.
I can understand everyone that still believes in WAR but I cannot understand taking everything they say at face value. I cannot come up with another reason to release an unfinished game instead of pushing back the release date.
It is too bad really, WAR looked like alot of fun but I refuse to pay money for a half finished product, even if the product is great. I am sick and tired of gaming companies taking my money for granted, why should I have to pay for a half finish product.
I wish WAR and its fans all the best of luck but I will be passing on this one, which is really too bad because WAR looked like a winner, looked like something we as a community could rally around but not any more. Its the same old story time and again.
So I will leave you all with a question. WHY not push back the release date and finish the game if they are not having money issues?
MMORPGs are never "finished" games. If there is enough content at release to keep you busy and entertained, the game should be considered finished for release. There is also the pressure of WotLK. It would be foolish of them to not consider the impact of competition on the success of their product.

We live in a cynical world, were honesty is quite sparse, Governements and big conglomera have always been in bed together it only as of late that people come to realise it.
Of course the gaming industry isnt exemp from this wave of distrust, and with a a recent half-baked attempt like Age of Conan people are getting a bit pissed of spending money and not getting back in value.
But people need to also realise that some people DO enjoy game like age of conan, and that failure is only personnal to the individual, what you may think suck another may not agree.
As for me? i live in a world of Superheroes, Orcs, Dwarfs, and of powerful alien entities that make you go mad by looking at them, all of that mixed in with some Heavy Metal music, mostly song by Ronnie James Dio.
It's unfortunate that so many people suck in the world we live in. So many, in fact, that people refuse to trust anyone without proof. There was a time when people were given trust until they lost it. (Yes, I understand that it's not exactly feasible to simply trust everyone now) Along that line, Mythic has a positive track record. Not only have they already designed a successful and fun MMORPG, they were honest with the player base while they did it.
