• • Favorite Horror Film?

  • This is a tough one for me. There are about 3 movies that still scare the bejebus out of me:

    1) The Thing (the original 1950's version)

    2) The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Very cool looking monster even 50 years later and the idea that something under the water is watching you is very, very creepy

    3) Alien. One of the best modern horror movies ever made.

  • The first three books of the the Dune series by Frank Herbert. The rest sort of lost me since it became more and more disconnected from the main story and characters of the first three.  Tolkien's The Lord of the Ring's and The Hobbit and Azimov's Foundation trilogy.

• • McCain tells supporters not to be afraid of Obama

  • I saw this video too. As much as I disagree with John McCain's politics I do have a respect for him after seeing this. He's caught between the scylla and charibdes right now. It seems fairly obvious that the latest attacks on Obama and Palin's "pallin' with terrorist" statement are backfireing on him, but he still has to show that he is still a contender in this election even though he's lagging in the polls and only a few weeks away from Election Day. I truely believe that McCain's downfall was bending to the will of the GOP base and picking Palin as a runningmate and the latest downturn in the economy. Palin has really damaged his credibility and well...no one really knew how bad the ecomomy was going to go. McCain is a good guy and he really wants to serve (and has served) his country in the best way he can. So with that said I will tip my hat to Mr. McCain for trying to set the record straight and dispelling some of the fear and hatred coming from some of his supporters.
