I just started playing on Seradon (free month) and I have nothing but praise for the community. I had to re-learn a lot of things, so I asked in chat - and got answered. Of course from time to time u hear sparks of @sshats, but thats normal. In fact, it happens so rarely that I almost never notice it.
VG has come around by a big leap, it still has problems, but it has gotten bette. Not sure if its worth a paying sub though. Cant make up my mind yet.

I am going to be creative and make another AoC - Food comparison.
Say you go to the supermarket and want to buy some waffles, yes waffles..... and some syrup. You see a newly opened store with a big sign that says "We have Waffles! Pancakes! Syrup! Bagles! and Pie!"
To your disappointment when you got closer and went into the market they only had Bagles, Pancakes and Pie. Come to find out they had planned on getting some waffles but they didn't have them.
So what would any normal person do?
Go look for another store to buy some waffles, because you want waffles..... not pancakes.
Players bought the game for a sole purpose and when they learned that aspect of the game was non-existant or lacking, rather than stand around waiting for something to happen they moved on to another store to get some waffles.... and maybe some syrup.
Good analogy, but a bit inaccurate I believe. In your story, people get disappointed and move on before wasting any money. That scenario would be reasonable in case of a trial game - someone tries the game, doesnt like it and moves on. No money was spent, player simply ignores the game from now on.
A slight modification to your analogy:
You go to a store and you bought a box of waffles. The box says "10 large fresh waffles". It cost you 50$ for that box, but you really like waffles because you read the book about Conan and loved it! It is your favorite book and Conan is your favorite hero. Did I mention Conan LOVED waffles? Once, in one of the books, a waffle even saved his life.
Anyway, back to the story. So you bought this box for 50$, you open the box (mind you you are very hungry, you are practically drooling) and in the box you see ... a sock. Just plain old sock. You try to chew a piece of it in disbelief (maybe you are so hungry you are hallucinating that sock?). But no, its just a plain cotton sock.

Hey look i understand disappointment i really do.
Believe me this is not it.
You know what disappointment is?
The 1st year of Anarchy Online.Thats right i played that title from the same developer in its 1st year.I played it for 2 years as a matter of fact.
You think THIS IS BAD?!?!?!
OMG you have no idea how good this is in comparison.Constantly crashing.Get a mission almost finish and disconnect.Log back in start over.Lag spikes like you would not believe.FPS in the 10's so unplayable its not funny.
This was on DIALUP!!
But ya know what happened a year later?
It won game of the year:ARTICLE right here. Not to mention that Notum Wars won expansion pack of the year as well.
Look i know most people are disappointed but im willing to give this some time to flesh itself out based upon Funcom's track record. All im saying is exercise some patience.
Give it a year lets see what happens.
Dont show any compromise to a buggy game. If it had minor issues, then that could be overlooked. but something major or just a sheer amount of minor bugs will result in a bad product. Mind you some people will still like that bad product, but most people wont.
What do you think will happen if people tolerate buggy releases without much of a fuss? Future devs will take that as a standard and continue making buggy products. Next thing you know, nothing works anymore, you are paying 50$ for an empty box and devs start developing the game after you buy it. Not a bright future IMO.
If we want quality product, we have to complain, whine, object, protest, go on a hunger strike, do anything to get the message to the developers - WE WANT QUALITY PRODUCT!

It's no being cut. It's being phased in later.
True. However, how long in "later" is it? We dont know. They probably dont know. One month in later would be fine. Probably 2 or 3 would be fine. But what if later means 6 months later? Or not at all?
Gotta remember that if something is postponed, then there is a chance that something may just as well be canceled all together. Remember what happened to Perpetual Entertainment and Gods and heroes? First, they canceled G&H because they wanted to concentrate on Startrek Online. But fairly shortly afterwards STO was canceled as well and IP rights were sold to another developer.
Granted, the company behind WAR is one level above Perpetual, but you cant rule out that anything postponed may stay that way indefinitely. This is a valid concern from the interested player base.
Personally, I dont have enough info to make a judgement whether the cut is major or not. But from pure logical standpoint it is always better to have more then less, right?
@ Pix
When you do receive your money, I expect to get either a 10% cut or a pizza, whichever is greater. Somehow, I have a feeling its gonna be pizza :(
On a serious note though, hope you get through this and get some cash back - all this trouble and all this time, you deserve something in reward. If you do, dont forget our pizza deal ;)
Edit: regarding collection. Once all the court proceedings are over, depending on the number of creditors and local laws, if the company does not have enough money to pay debt, usually it means you can force them to sell their assets (including hardware and/or any IPs they hold). who knows, maybe Pix will end up owning D&L franchise!
Do you currently play a SOE published game?
