Thanks for that review, I'm sure to give this game a go.
Could you please define "old school" games as in what type of date they came out in?
I have a few in mind you could add, but I'm struggling on if you would consider them old school.
Thanks in advance.

If you don't live in
Although you said you disliked hack and slash games, Mabinogi has an interesting combat system, what requires skill and timing.
It's also free to play, has a cash shop. The cash shop, according to some people gives a massive advantage to players who buy it. But considering the price it costs, they deserve it, even if it's good or not.
The game is a very casual, and well.. Somewhat based around in game currency, you can take on simple part time jobs, item creation, food production, dungeon raids and even titles to show your achievements.
This game is a very social game, you can do dungeon raids with friends or just random people you meet, you can solo it, but that’s mainly for gold hunting.
A lot of players think the game is complex, it's not. Really, it's not.
If you try this game go full warrior, don't try mage. Try mage if you enjoy the game, a lot.
Enjoy. <3
p.s- Airrivals is free to play with cashshop, the cash shop has hardly of an effect on the game, mainly because you can buy the needed cash shop items with in game currency.
Most of the cash shop items only make your gear "cooler", or make your missiles cooler.

To me it sounds like your looking for a game what requires a bit of skill? Considering you use to play Audition.
If you want something exrtra special, I could advise Airrivals
The game is a si fi, space ship shooter mmorpg.
The game does include classes, what via the game are known as gears.
Each gear has it's own unique abbilites, made to enchance the pvp and pve feeling.
The gears
I gear- Your typical warrior in your average other mmo, they focus on firing a barrage of missiles, barrel rolling and using evasion to their advantage in pvp.
B gear- Your bomber, the b gear is the hardest hitting gear in the game, are capable of firing a massive barrage of missiles to either the ground or through the air. Can suscide to delivier extreame damage to a big group of enemy gears what are quite close together. They can also turn invisible, what well.. Pretty much helps them beat a lot of other gears.
M gear- Your buffer, healing, teleporter, meat shield, anchor and your pvp annoyance. M gears are capable of beating any other gear with ease, if known how to use correctly. They can reverse backwards, scan for invisible gears and can be a giant of defence.
A gear- Your tank, they are capable of killing extreamly quickly, are the most feared gear in the game. They can create a self shield for themselves, camoflauge and auto aim.
The game is a faction based game, there are 2 nations at the early begginging of the game, you are allowed to pick one. The nations have some story line around them. ANI- The rebel nation fighting for freedom and what not. BCU- The elite nation trying to secure what they consider peace. The game from when you start to around level 50, the game is casual and is hardly a strain to level up. For nearly every level, there is a mission for you to compleat what gives you a satisfying amout of exp, after you've compleated the mission all you have to do is a spot of mob killing and then you'd have leveled.
Can't belive I wrote all that.
Should of just put.
"Try airrivals".
mmorpg really needs to add Airrivals into the game list.
90% Of playing motivation in maple story comes from the "interesting" skill graphics, "Elite" equipment and being well known within the game.
