Enigma intersting that you used to be a cop... Makes your opinion in the matter so skewed and distorted that it is almost useless. Just protecting the good name of the police, although in your defense the police have no good name to defend. Cops are corrupt bullies with guns who like to abuse power and people. There are very few instances of uncorrupted power in this world. Maybe even none... When you have an organization such as the police who, while yes have rules and regulations, are by large internally regulated like most exucutive institutions. Even though there is oversight by higher powers and the public it is easy to hide what really goes on due to the aformentioned internal regulation and review. Coercion was likely a factor, hell there is no saying what goes on behind closed doors, a flick of a switch and everything is off the books. The lawyer and prosecuting attorney may have been there but that doesnt stop coercion in some time or place.
If you truely believe that there was no coercion on the part of the police then you are an ignoramous of epic proportions. Corruption runs so rampant through modern law enforcement it is sickening. Cops are nothing more than bullies with guns and way too much authority. This is blatently obious on many levels from original training right down to the streets. My girlfriend for example was going to become a cop, but then realized that all the people training with her were the people that were the bullies and overprivaleged jocks who simply liked power. One student said i just want the power thats why i am becoming a cop. WOW
... WTF that is some fucked up shit. Seriously now this is sad...

I swear greed and stupidity will be the death of us all.
Especially considering the staggering ratio of greedy stupid people to those who are less avaricous and superficial. There are so many people so wrapped up in their own pathetic lives that they cant wake up and realize the effect the have on the world around them. This will likely only continue until drastic changes occur in the world. A salamander disapeering act on a whole new scale. When the shit hits the fan i will thankfully be dead... But thinking of my potential offspring well for that I am truely disheartening. To think that each generation will have it worse and worse is terrifying. I thought the standard of living in this world was supposed to be increasing on the average. Apperntly we hit the top of the curve and now things can only get worse. Why can people not wake up and realize, we only have one chance as a global society and so far i would say we are managing to fuck it up pretty well. Although on the brightside evolution is incredible, maybe we will be able to all become aquatic and utilize the toxins that will eventually pervade our entire existence. Then again ive never been much of an optimist.
I definentally think that some people worry about it too much and it seems to me that if you go into a game thinking that it will suck then it very often will to you. Same goes for being a purist to the old ways, i mean seriously tone down the retroactive attitude. Yes, there are some truely amazing aspects of D2 that made the game, but give the devs some credit, they already made D2 awesome why not D3? Yes as always we run the risk of a shitty sequel, but it is key to remember that very often game franchises can be very succesful through huge changes and variations in playstyle (see Final Fantasy, having beaten well... everyone to date except obviosly the godforsaken MMO).
One thing that i do agree with is if the economy goes to a more full gold based type i will be... pissed off... there was such a unique nature to the way things were. It's kinda fun remembering the good old days when objects, runes, and charms had a crazy inter-relationship of values that boggled the mind and shifted everytime i logged in. But i dont think a partially gold based economy would destroy the gameplay, certainly not ruin the expirience for me.![]()
Wow not gonna lie when i started this thread i pretty much expected it to be dismissed by most all or just trashed down, but there has actually been some fairly well informed debate save for the occasional person just ranting and raving. Thanks to all who have been posting, and i must say i am truely impressed.
