Sorry to neglect the mmorpg community. I have been very busy working on the web site, podcast, etc. I barely have time to keep up at AionSource.com some days. The origianl post is fully updated with the new links and services. The web site has completely changed so please change any bookmarks you may have had. Thank you.
I've already gone through all the tech support resources, and since I'm a computer science major I know how to troubleshoot. I'm currently playing on a 10 day trial, but I already have the game in the mail (ordered for $5). So my plan is to wait until GU6 and then activate my free 30 days. Also downloading EQ 2 to see how that is. I'll be disappointed if the same things happen there, but I'm hoping that its popularity means that it gets more love from SOE.
I do have antialiasing turned off. As I said, I tried playing at bare minimum graphics settings and the same thing occurs. My Vista 64 install is incredibly stable especially after the recent service pack.
After an entire night trying to get this game to work (I love the ideas of housing, boats, etc.) I only have this to say to the game:
It's not me. It's you..
This game would be incredibly awesome... if it worked. I'm currently running Vista 64 bit Ultimate on an Intel quad-core processor with 4 gigs of RAM and a Nvidia 8600GTS. I've tried everything in the forums and I still suffer horrible pop-up. I spent 5 minutes running in place last night until BAM the wall that was there finally rendered. I'm beginning to wonder if it's just me because after watching som youTube videos I noticed the same kind of thing. Rocks, trees, people all pop up out of nowhere 5 ft from your character.
I love the game mechanics and the gameplay, but this kind of graphical failure is unacceptable. Even more ironic is the fact that the intro screen bares the famous "Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played." The forums are full of users with problems relating to Nvidia graphics cards.
As I said, I've tried everything: turning graphics all the way down, running in XP compatability mode, disabling UAC, edititing config files... nothing seems to do the trick. If anyone has a similar system and has the game running please let me know what you've done. If not, anyone using a similar setup should take this as a warning.
I'm looking for something to play while I wait for Aion, and I'm kinda sick of WoW. Trial code would be much appreciated ![]()
GOT IT TY
Very cool. Check out the web site: aion-elysium.imfo and register. Be sure to put your application in the forums as we'll be using that as a sudo-roster for the time being.
