Moria - not even a contest. Most amazing landscapes ever, Moria itself is mind-blowingly awesome, and legendary weapons is probably one of the best new game systems I've ever seen. compare that to the 'death night' and more of the same grind and icy wastelends. Yeah, Moria without a doubt. thanks again Turbine!!!
I've done the same thing a number of times, and I'm coming full circle now I think. I dropped WoW for DDO and it didn't pan out so I went back, then I tried Vangaurd (but was smart enough NOT to drop WoW) and didn't even last a month there, but LOTRO got me to quit for over a year - LOTRO is still my all time favorite MMO by huge margin, but with all the talk of Lich King I'm probably going to give WoW another try... though I'm much more excited for Mines of Moria!

I honestly grew bored with LOTRO even faster than I have with WoW. even UO kept me interested much longer. The world felt empty and flat to me. The graphics were ugly. The never ending quest cycle was too much. It made it feel like work instead of fun.
I'm glad there are people enjoying it, but it was definitely not my cup of tea.
I honestly can't comprehend this one - I understand if the game mechanics and PvE/quest focus aren't for you, they're definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but to say the world is flat and empty and ugly? I'm dumbfounded. Lotro has some of the most impressive graphics and majestic landscapes of any game I've ever played, and the major city centers and even some outlying towns and areas are full of life and activity.
I can actually see how some people could potentially be 'bored' with LOTRO, but to me it seems these are the same people who prefer a comic book to a novel. LOTRO seems to be the only online game out there that offers an actual, lenghty, in-depth story that you become a part of, and that's why I (and many others I know) are hooked. It goes deeper than 'quest and craft' gaming and becomes real 'entertainment', like a good book or a movie where you control the action, or at least your part of it, and you just want to see what happens next! Every patch I look forward to how they are going to move the storyline along, but I also look forward with deep excitement to what MY PART in that story is. It's the only game out there that engages me like that, that's what keeps me from getting bored. Sure, if you just focus on 'ome more quest, one more mining node, one more piece of armour' it might get boring, but if you look at the game as the developers want you to, I think it opens up a whole new level and depth to the game.
I'm still playing Asheron's Call, and I still love it - I think it's still one of the all-time best MMOs out there.
Would you rather see a game release pushed back a year or have the game release with a few bugs that will be fixed?
