Even with console games these days there’s no guarantee of stability.
Since the new consoles all have HDDs developers are doing the same thing as they do with computer games. . .they release it half completed and patch is later.
We'll first off all new consoles do not have HDDs. Examples would be the Wii and XBOX360 Arcade. And second it is really expensive to put out an update on consoles. Microsoft's certification process is lengthy and expensive. Most games never even put out more than one patch. If they release any at all. Only the popular games are updated more.

Human
Klingon
Andorian
Ferengi
Gorn
Bolians
Vulcans
Tellarites
Tholians
On top of that you will also be able to make your own races, meaning on top of nine preset races you also get to make any unique ones you want to!

Source of information? Because from the articles I have seen, the only playable races are those of Human, Vulcan, Klingon, Andorian and Tellarites. Concept art has been spotted for most of the races you mentioned and there are going to be several species that will be NPC only like the Borg and Tholians.
But Ferengi, Gorn and Bolians have not yet been mentioned if they are playable.
Straight from there FAQ. Also read an article recently that had other races listed. Don't feel like looking for the link though I'm going to bed. I am pretty sure I remember Tholians and Ferengi being mentioned as playable.

What races will we be able to play?
The plan is Human, Vulcan, Andorian, Klingon, Orion, Gorn, and several others. You will also be able to create your own race with its own custom look and attributes.

Same here. Beta isn't that bad. But not what I thought it was going to be. The wait continues for me.

I want backwards compatility that's for sure. I see the arcade stuff on xbox so that's been rereleased I'm assuming.
The other question I have is say they make a game for a computer and release an xbox version and a ps3 version etc etc. Do they run differently? Eg: graphics, controls etc. I saw screenshots of an up and coming release and got the impression that graphics are rendered differently or something with each type of setup. I could be wrong, but then why display a screenshot for each brand etc.
See now you have me convinced that ps3 will probably be okay. The reason I dont own a console right now is due to the fact that I simply can't make up my mind between the "giants" xbox, ps3 mostly but to some extent I want the Wii but long ago tossed that as my first console to buy.
The last time I owned a console it was a nintendo 64 and i played legends of zelda and metroids. ... so i'm outa the loop..
Yes they play different and even look different. The graphics are more or less equal. While the 360 has the better lighting system, higher FPS, and less motion blur. Here's some comparision shots for you.

If you have big hands you might not like the PS3 as much as the 360. The controller is much smaller and bothers some of the bigger people. I got used to it very fast and hardly notice it anymore.

I own a ps3 and love it... it's more than just games in my opinion. blue ray player (though the upconversion is great for normal dvd's and i don't buy blue rays yet for that reason)
i have not played the xbox..but... sony just released a new version of the ps3 that is supposed to be 100% backwards compatible with all ps2 games too...so u have tons of games to choose from.
anyone else feel free to chime in..i'm sure there are just as many supporting xbox...but my ps3 never had NAT problems online like xbox's have had.
faxx
First I own all three major consoles. And they are all nice machines. But the PS3 and Wii both lack in the game department. Which is where the 360 shines. There are more exclusives, mmos in development, and just more good games period on the 360.
Then you have there online systems. The Wii is laughable, but atleast it has something. The PS3 system is adquate, but know where near as complete or user friendly as the 360 online is. The new home is a nice step for Sony. But as a beta tester for Sony I do not believe it to be anything we actually need. Its more a bandaid so you forget your not on xbox live anymore. The 360's online is almost perfect. They have had over 7 years of updates to get it where it is today. Its not perfect, but the best consolers have.
About that new PS3 thats 100% backwards compatible do you have a link to that news? All I have heard is rumors that a new 40GB PS3 is being released in October this year. And that it will support software emulation. Even if true big deal. I have a 60GB thats hardware compatible with PS2 games. And the thing is buggy with a lot of the PS2 games. News of the 80 GB PS3 with software compatibility is not promising. Only partial PS2 compatibility. Then you have the 40GB that doesn't support PS2 games at all.
Are you serious about the NAT problems? Do a google search and the PS3 has just as many NAT problems.
