You are very mistaken. You can go pvp at level 1 and have immediate fun. The game automatically upscales you to level 8 for pvp purposes so youre immediately useful (the upscaling works per tier, in tier 2 you become like 17-18). Anyone saying you need to be max level before you can have fun is flat out wrong.
FYI at level 1 you are flat out useless in scenarios.
Moreover you are not answering the right question.
Just because every other MMO does it (and most of them are not in good shape at all) it does not mean that a PvP oriented MMO should do it.
A PvP oriented MMO should get rid of levels altoghether, instead of trying to graft all kinds of fixes onto a system that was not meant for PvP in the first place.
The militant DF fanboys are out to spin. You know some of us actually read multiple boards and can see through this transparent ploy to poison potential players. really really sad and speaks volumes about the DF fanbase.

Awww my first post or so, almost exaiting ^_^...
I dont follow forums that much but i wonder a couple of things after reading this thread about the game i hope it will be good.
a) why people get so angry or frustrated about the developing fase? I remember old time game (very good one too) the Devs. never had to come to show ME what they were doing and i never expected them to keep me informed about anything... this lead to point B
b) Do the Devs. own u something? did you pay money for some reason to them to have some preview or some videos? Will they force you to buy the game or did they force you to buy stock market of their company? so why are you all so fired up with them? They "promised" a video... (this lead to point C)
c) everything they do to show us whats going on is a plus, something they dont have to do, and even if they say "i will show you something next mounth" they dont put is as highest priority if some extra bug come out and they have to focus on finding a solution would u care more about having your "special video" (that means nothing) or you would prefear that they focus, if they need to, first on the real game that is actually what you are paying for if you will buy the game?
The video is a video of the game so if the game had a nasty problem they could of course make the video the same (as most company) and cut the part with the problem, just to meet the "PROMISE" but perhaps they rather fix the game first and make the video once is fixed... this is just to answer to people that say have couple of person making a video etcetc...
People that critics before to spend money are all whiners in my opinion you dont give them money they dont have to give you nothing... all the rest is just "learn to wait" if you want a decent game all the screaming and crying bring us game like AOC and WAR well done whiners please try to dont ruin this one too
apologize my english, it is not my first language
/QFT.
This is a very good first post if i ever saw one.
Your absolutely right in everything your saying. UO as an example was developed without just about any PR. And it was a smashing success in that time period.
Develop the game as good as you can first then do some PR. If a game is good it will live on its own strength.
Since I played UO, I can say without a doubt they did not drag on about the game for 5 years. DF should have gone into media black out for 4 of those 5 years minimum. Instead they talked about impending betas and toyed with the fan base. That does make them obligated to those that have followed the game for those years. There is something called integrity and unfortunately many here have no idea what that word means. Tasos has none and has clearly displayed that time and time again. I post on these boards because I HOPE the game to live up to the hype, however that does not mean I close my eyes and pretend everything smells like roses. There are realists on these boards and there are the delusional that think Tasos is the second coming. That stink your are smelling is not coming from the critics, but the game of DF itself. It is a shame some people skip reason for blind faith.

ROFL - evidence? What evidence?
Some made up story created of someone with way to much fantasy.
Yeah that "surreeeeee" is some real hardcore evidence if i ever saw one. =)

youll see fairly shortly
lol you again hi :)
Why dont oyu gusy give it a rest for 2 months
I believe you have said this same thing a few months ago and before that about a year ago. How long are people suppose to "give it a rest"? ![]()

so I supposed we;ll be seeing this amazing video on the 31'st of August at 11:59 pm than eh?
Afte they've finally managed to put something decent together from their unfinished buggy game client.
Hate to break the news to you Mr savvy. but IT DOES NOT TAKE A WHOLE MONTH TO PUT TOGETHER A VIDEO OF PEOPLE PLAYING A GAME.
unless of course you have one that is totally unfinished and buggy so that you need to constantly re record to get everything perectly right.
Aventurine has been very clear that they will prioritize actually developing their game rather than do PR stuff. Why is it taking a long time ? Perchance the dude that got the task of making it also have more important things to do first ? Maybe he have 30 min or something each day to work on it and going through 1T of video and editing it, takes time ? Maybe the music guy needs more time ? Speculation ? Sure but just as plausible as yours.
Anyhow...
I'm not that exited about the video, a video doesn't prove anything, right ?
I'm looking forward to test the actual game and make up my own mind
A competent company can do both no matter the size. If your marketing group has more important things to do than actually market your product, you fail. The 1TB of content works both ways. If they had so much time to gather that much data, they could have spent 10% of that time collecting only 900GB of data and produce a movie.
More content does not necessarily mean a better movie. I think 100 - 200GB would have been sufficient enough to make a decent movie compared to what they have released to date.

What else would you as a customer demand at this point ?
A beta?
Aventurine lets the professionals do the boring and fustrating bughunting, leaving you to try out the finished game.
...
I can also TOTALLY see how paying for all these "professionals" (sarcasm aside, if they really DID have pros...you can bet the cost is A TON higher than what I am alluding to here) is completely cost effective and possible for such a small, indie company who has been so broke and pressed for time that they could neither run a simple fraps while playing, or pay someone on the street 5 bucks to hold a &%$#ing camera while they did so.
...
I hope everyone following this game reads what Gishgeron just said. How can people defend an internal beta that is intensive enough that they don't need the public to help, and at the same time say there is too much work to spend time on a video? Can't people see that there is something fishy there?
Stuu how dare you use logic... I mean you should bow down to Tasos and fall in line with all the other people thinking he is the second coming. For shame!
