Lol
Sounds like destro is doing it right. Everyone talks about destro being overpopulated when I think the real reason is they have players playing tanks (i.e., higher percentage of tanks).
I hope you're playing a tank. Your realm needs more of 'em. That's why I'm playing an Ironbreaker 'cause I knew our guild needed them (and they're fun . . . an armored short range controller).
Hi guys,
I love this game, but when I can't get on the server to join my guildies I get pretty annoyed. Is there some mechanic, strategy, method to get on when the servers full?
Thanks
Paper, Rock, Scissors. That Marauder was fighting a defensive specced Ironbreaker. MDPS aren't designed to tank. They're designed to flank and massacre soft-skins. Once you engage there's no running because of your melee controls. That and I'm terrified of marauders during seiges running up and tentacle pulling of the RDPSers off the wall and into a pack of mad-dog destruction. Never seen it done but I've heard of it.
My experience during preview week is that it's fast and furious. I know I was hitting an attack, heal, debuff (depending on character) every 1.5 seconds! Moving positioning, trying to monitor my allies and my enemies. I never found it slow. I liked it better than DAOC in that I felt there was better balance. I liked the fact that if you weren't a complete idiot and tried to individually rush into an enemy zerg you'd last at least a little while before dying and if you got some support you'd take a few enemies down.
Basically I had a blast doing the RvR scenarios. The only slow parts are the stand offs where the ranged characters were dueling it out, but if 3 or more melees rushed it got interesting fast.
Once the guilds get established it's going to be a tactical bloodfest with huge warbands moving strategically across the map!
Great write up Noun.
One personal story.
While exploring a PvP zone I was jumped by an equal lvl Black Orc (11). He couldn't kill me and I would have killed him if I had a snare or knockdown in my arsenal. As I wore him down I'd let him get me down to a third just to get him excited before I healed my self to full. (I' wish I could have seen his face when I did this) Anyway I wore him down and he had to run. I couldn't follow him into his camp though.
Still, if there was another enemy player I would have had to run and I'd probably get snared and die. Tank CC is huge in getting a kill.
Aside from questing, what do you spend most of your time doing in-game?
