• • How WAR got 'em beat.

  • Very much agree, it's pvp, it's fun and it's immersive. Loads of roleplay around as Warhammer roleplay isn't the usual olde-worldie English crap, you know the stuff "Ye, we, tis better to have lost than have, forsooth...yadda yadda yadda", it's raw, ruthless and virbant.

    Example, i was in Phoenix Gate the other night defending the flag with two other dwarves stood abusing all the elves who minced past and laughing at all the dark elf "warriors" who tried to atack us (including various transvestite gags and certain comments about women and servitude...which didn't go down too well with the female Warrior Priest who was stood with us at the time, but it was all good). It was all good clean fun and very much in character, which took no real effort, it was just fun :)

    Please note i usually HATE roleplaying, but this i liked :)

    Erm...no.

    If you can't find enough quests, your not looking for them. There are three racial zones and most of those are split into two or three areas per tier.

    You can level 1-40 without any pvp and without grinding a single mob outside of quest and PQ's, many players have already done this.

    Because all the DF troll-fanbios have abandoned AoC forums for more bountiful shores, and as such are now coming here.

    As they can't experience open-world  pvp in their beloved sandbox Darkfall, they are compensating by griefing forumites here.

    Tis the green-eyed monster imo

    Darkfall just released a new 17 minute video. It has some cool stuff. Ship battles, floating platforms to attack player built cities.  It looks a lot better than WAR at this point. And i prefer the realistic graphics to this cartoony stuff .  Of course we will have to see how beta goes

    Fancy graphics with poor character animations. You didn't run the ground just slid underneath you. Combat was very slow. It needs a lot of work before it's released.

    
     

    Waited years to see this and it's disappointing to say the least.

    Gameplay looks very poor, twitchy and uncoordinated, animations are terrible and the whole thing looks like every other fantasy mmorpg out there.

    Can't believe anyone thinks the graphics depicted in the video are good or realistic, they just aren't.

    Big question is why are people comparing WAR to DF? WAR will be hugely successful, STILL no-one actually knows anything tangible about DF to make any comparisons. I get sick of reading "prove it" posts. Why can't we keep DF on the DF forums and the WAR forums free from jealous invasions? Mods?

    
     

    Because WAR doesnt look like every fantasy MMORPG out there...and the graphics are "realistic" as well....

    And i LIKE WAR....and you saying WAR will be hugely successful, while i agree with your prediction, isnt fact yet just like AoC.  To be clear before you get all upset...I agree that i THINK war will be a huge huge success, but it isnt set in stone yet.  oh and wah wah wah mods...while i agree that they are different games, it is a legit comparison and discussion and certainly has its place.  dont like it, dont read it.

    
     

    I'm not making comparisons, thats kind of my point....which you seem to have missed.

    Also, this thread is not constructive in the least, it's just another DF invasion flame bait thread (just like all the others) of another games forums. Your flame post eloquently proves my point.

    Had this been on the DF forums, it would be no different and would again have been a pointless troll/flame fest with a few interspersed seeds of conversation.

    At that link, we can see controls used in a darkfall demo, which can share some light about the video. As you see, pressing right mouse shows the UI.

    I think that is GREAT, we wont see thousand of skillbars, inventory icons etc while we play which takes out some inmersion.

    
     

    I can't see any such thing, it's all text and as such shows nothing about the gameplay nor how the UI works in practice.
