• • Yet another write up on WAR...read or dont..just try not to flame..or I will sick a bright wizard on you!

  • Yep you read the topic right yet another write up on WAR. First off let’s get this over with yes and no I am a fan boy and kind of not as well. Or at least I am enough of a fan to admit I really enjoy WAR but I’m not blind to the bad things that most of the fan boys/girls normally are of any game they just rave about.
    First I will also admit that I bought the CE of WAR and still damn proud I did. To me the game is still worth it despite a few things that need to be tweaked. Now the good things with WAR and to touch on a few things that have been mentioned by other people.
     

    First PvE some say that it’s hollow for a lack of a better term. Yet the more quests I do and the more reading I do the more I see these people are either just expecting quests with just reading the bold print which tells you what to do..or they are just not reading at all. The quests give the PvE world a lot more feeling to it if you read it. And some of it is just plain funny as hell.
    Now some of the bad on the PvE side is that you still get the oo so annoying you can’t not see your target bug once in a while or mobs dashing off and you getting a message saying the mob is retreating so you can’t finish them off. Only to have the mob run back full health, now if you have a healer or have healing skills that’s ok but if you’re a pure tank and on your last bit of life..Well guess who is pushing up daisies because of that stupid stunty coming up and smashing you into the ground.
    Also I will admit to being a graphics whore I love the graphics in WAR. I only have a level 22 chosen, a level 18 shammy, and the highest Order toon I have is only 13 (a bright wizard I love blowing things up with him! Ah the smell of burnt Bright Wizard in the morning!) My pc is not top of the line about mid level I would say running a 2.2 dual core with 2 gigs of memory and the only time I run into lag is when there is a huge RvR fight.
     

    Now normally when it comes to MMO’s I have never really been that big of a fan of PvP or in WAR’s case RvR. Mostly because of the stupid grief players that think that it’s fun to kill someone that has no chance against you and oo dude I’m so leet. Mystic has done a fine job of killing the grief player in my opinion. How you might ask..easy by turning them into a chicken! I think right now my favorite toon to take into RvR is my shammy. I can kick butt and heal if I so decide..and mind you I play on a role-playing server for the most part.
     

    Now the bad of course is finding said RvR either my time is off or just not lucky of late but I have only been on about three keep raids and have defended a keep twice. Now it is fun and confusing but just getting a group together large enough to do such a keep raid is a lot harder than it sounds. Not to mention people still think they can just zerg..but that’s another topic.
    Now of course with WAR there are the PQ’s that people like to do, and as one person had said it’s for fast exp and the loot is pretty damn good for the level of the PQ’s. The problem once again is finding enough people to finish the PQ’s a lot of people will do just the first part and let it reset and start over again. Now if you do get into a good PQ that people run all the way though you do stand to get some damn good loot that will last you a few levels. The other thing I have noticed is that some people whine about the RVR gear vs the PVE gear.
     

    Well I have yet to see anyone running around in just RvR gear or just PvE gear yes you can get some good stats off of both but most people tend to do a bit of both RvR and PvE a specially if your waiting around for a scenario to start. Also you can pull some good armor off of RvR even in the teer 1 though 4 (though I am only at teer 3 at the moment) but the drops seem to be a little on the rare side and they do need (at least in my opinion) to up the drop rate on the RvR armor after all there are so many people you’re competing against to get the gear even in PQ’s you can be the top person on the list only to get a lousy roll like a frigin 17…which is what I just did about a half hour ago! And get nothing while the person that contributed the least gets the top purple bags.
     

    There is still more to come but I will save that for later unless people annoy me too much. But for now
    This be Mumtugig 18th level shammy with a magic stunty head..(if you ever see me look for the crazy shammy holding onto a dwarven head..one of the goodies you get with the CE)

  • I have found that dwarven egeinners can be a bit of a challange to play, that or as some mentioned the squig herder is a challange to play but fun. My 4 favortie classes though are Chosen, Bright Wizard, shammy, and ironbreaker.

  • And dont forget in Tr3 even tr 2 if you see an iron breaker you know to groan in pain because of their dang knock downs AND knock backs I have a levle 22 chosen I love this walking tin can!! but man I HATE going against an iron breaker!!! Only two classes i can honeslty say I fear....Iron breakers and the ooo so annoying bright wizard (which i play as well and love that fireball tossing loon!!)

    The balance issue i think will fix it self a sepcialy when they put out the other tank for Order.

  • Well guess what here is another person that plays and LIKES both WAR and the table top. I have spent over 3 grand on the table top, have several armies and enjoy a night out with the guys and gals that play the table top hell i have had battles last 4 days. We all play WAR as well and truely enjoy the game. It keeps the humor of the table top and for the most part has a lot of the creatures in it that I personaly like though sure wish we could play scathen or how ever you spell them after a 2 night party!!!

    I have a lvl 15 Archmage, and I am usually the top healer in scenarios on the order side.   I use up all my action points spamming heals and heals over time and my one ward and hardly have any damage at all, and I still can't save everyone on my side.  Sometimes your health will go down way too fast for any healer to keep up, especially if you've got more than one damage dealer on you.  Don't expect to get a heal if you're always running off by yourself too, if you're far away I can't get to you in time.

    Healing will keep ya busy, that's for sure. 

    
     

    AMEN to this one! I just started a shammy not to long ago man i love that little guy but i cant keep everyone healed what i mainly do is consintratedon the tanks IF i can i will get the off tanks and mages as well basicly what i do is a little fighting, see someone'es health go down and just drop a heal on them then if i notice someone in the middle of an order gang beating i consintrate on healing that person to try and keep them alive. Really dont know why people whine about a "group" heal this makes it a bit more challanging. People are going to die thats the nature of any MMO a specially the zergers. As i always warn the group "yous no protecty me...me lets you die then me giggle and loot your sorry corpse!!!"
