• • CPR for an Ancient AC Account

  • Anyone have any experience giving CPR to an account that hasn't been revived since around... errr... maybe 2002ish?

    I thought I would play AC again for a little while just to reinforce that good games CAN be made, even inspite of the garbage that I have tried lately - TR, LotRO, War, etc.

    I know have my old account info (even have my list of passwords that I kept up to date, changing them every month or so    Just not certain how easy it is to revive one of these ancient accounts.

    (then comes the trouble of having to revive an account that was from my boyfriend at the time, we kept characters on each other's accounts for secure muling long before there was any other way to do it... oh I so miss items that I cared about enough to mule them

  • I vote Age of Conan.

    AoC has some issues, #1 being that PvP-centric games tend to be difficult to make using complex and interesting characters.  AoC had bad teaming mechanics... 'nough said.  I lasted about a month or perhaps a little longer.

    War is terrible.  It is an old game in a new box.  It has clunky movement derived from making the game playable on poor, low end systems.  It is an arena game, sure the arena is a few hundred people, but to que for the world... pathetic.  Its characters are a joke.  Its playstyle something from a game in the 1990's.

    After beta finished, I lasted in War for under two weeks; and even that was only a few days worth of playing.  I just found that sitting out back on the veranda, going out, playing chess, reading or doing anything else I can think of was far more fun than ever logging in to the terrible game.

  • Yes, I foresaw that this 'style' game wasn't for me during beta.  I always purchase the retail box anyhow and thought I might see what it was like with a few more people to play with.  It was the same.

    Perhaps worse, actually.  At least in beta people were trying to team together and figure things out.

    Anyhow, the combat doesn't get any better.  It is an old old old game design.  Yeah Yeah, the little fanbois are all stamping their little feeties yelling that "That is Warhammer!  That is the style!  You don't understand!"

    Perhaps the computers and/or servers are not yet up to the task of large RvR battles with quality character movement, interesting skills and spells etc etc etc.  Whatever the case, Warhammer fails.

    On a side note to the poster a few above... There have been MMORPGs that had more interesting combat.  I remember casting WarMagic Debuffs to make the enemy fizzle their spells.  Cast away their wisdom and intellect so they had to use much lower level spells against me...

    ...  I remember casting harm and drain spells to drain away their mana or stamina dunring combat.  I would cast slow and weakness on them so they could hardly move when the weight of their armor and backpack came crashing down on them...

    Yep, there are MUCH better ways of doing combat.  Warhammer simply is an old game with nothing new to make combat interesting.

    War had a good release.... errr OK, but only because it is an old outdated game at launch.

    True, it didn't have many issues that prevented people from logging in, but it is an ancient level of game design.  A game with this low level of depth should be about perfected at this point.  I would hope that, near the end of the first decade in the 21st century, a company could put out game that has the graphics, sound and character depth of  a game from the 1990's.

    There isn't anything ground breaking here, just old Diablo, mixed with some WoWesk characters and tossed in to tiny arenas that mythic calls 'servers'.

    
     

    ok WiccanCircle we get it you think its a nintendo game with a WOW theme how many threads will you post the same shit. We also understand that you dont like it and its not the game for you. All you are saying is that I want a game with graphics as I have heard no complaints about anything else from you other than the typical " I want my sandbox MMO " stuff.

    For as much time as you spend on these forums surely you realized in your travels that WAR was not a sandbox game but you bought it anyway. Are you just pissed off at yourself for buying a game you knew you wouldnt like and taking it out on everyone else? I know I dont like sandbox games myself but what sense would it make for me to buy EVE anyway then go to the forums and complain about it?

    Maybe you are just looking for a friend that feels the same way as you or something. Either way if there is no action in the darkfall forums make some. No need to keep copy / pasting the same shit in every WAR post. Maybe you can just tell us where the Nintendo touched you if it will make you feel better. Is Blizzard your baby's daddy?

    But I will post as I please.  I have been around these forum and many others long long long before you even knew what MMORPGs were.  And your post count show that blather on about nothing quite a bit for a newbie.

    Besides, a few people have to mention that this game isn't very good to cover over the slurping sound that all you little children are making.

    I knew quite well what this game was and even more so what it wasn't.  I was good, I followed the NDA, even stayed away from the forum so that I wouldn't be tempted to mention that this game is really poorly done.

    Oh, and as for Dakrfall... I have always, and still will go on record saying that it is vaporware.  Beta?  Hardly.  It is the Piltdown Man of computer toys.  It is a hoax - It doesn't exist.
