    • Darkfall's Beta NDA
    • It is still odd to not see someone break the nda and leak beta information. Someone always does for games. Also people could state they are in beta when they see the invite in their email because they have not yet agreed to the nda.

    • Also, the simplist solution would be DF is doomed to fail because it is produced by an independent company and has had an unreasonably long development. That is the answer that is most free of other elements.

Has nothing to do with is it vaporware or not, but whether it will fail.

The thing people must remember is occam's razor is not necessarily true. Often it is not, lol.

    • I think people are taking it the wrong way when saying why would they go through all this trouble for a scam. There are several reasons, one primarilt money. They've gotten a decent chunk of money from investors already. Nothing compared to big companies, but still enough for a small indie group.

That isn't the reason I would take if I were to consider it vaporware. I take it as in they tried to make a game with extremely high expectations, that they could not finish enough to even get it released. While a game may exist, it won't see the light of day, thus be vaporware for all intents and purposes since we will not see it.

Biting off more than they can chew, the huge game they stated to make, is an empty shell of a game. That is what vaporware is.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

It even says that it is not intended as a hoax, but genuine desire to release the product. It's been bugging me lately people using "why would they go through with a scam? Of course it is real" It is the same thing as why do people steal, or con old people out of their retirement savings. That whole reasoning that it is real because why would someone scam is such a fallacy.

Anyway, scams and hoaxes aside, usually has nothing to do with vaporware. Considering Aventurine's past history of DF and the promises, and let downs over the years, can you really blame anyone that says the game is vaporware?

I do not think it is a scam, but I am skeptical of a release, let alone a quality game.

Oh, and if they actually had regular releases of info, probably wouldn't be considered vaporware either. If you look at any info released, it is often colored with flowery language and has absolutely no definitives. when they did give definite answers, they always failed to produce.

Oh and if you read down on the link, i think if DF does release it will be in the category Falls short of expectations.

    • Would you re roll on a scenario-less server?
    • I'd resub if there were no scenarions probably. I would rather have the BG system in daoc though. No queue, for various level brackets. Basically it would be the open rvr, but just restricting levels for lower end probably. So like 1-10, 11-20 etc. or even smaller differences like daoc had of 5 levels.

I loved the BGs in daoc, and the frontiers for higher end rvr. I had some fun in WAR, but it got old fast. I think they just kind of messed up the whole point of the game with scenarios. I rather be able to kill the enemy all day long in rvr in form of open or daoc BG and level that way than have to wait in a longer queue than the battle takes. Considering i found the pve mostly boring, and the rvr fun when I got to do some, I really don't want to pve more than rvr as I wait in a queue.

    • WOTLK Is Amazing
    • I recently started up again after like 2 years away. Mostly from a lack of anything else to play atm, and because of friends. I must say, I really enjoyed the quests in the DK starting area. I'm playing casually now, but I am having fun. I have no idea how long that will last, maybe 6 months, but as long as I am having fun, thats fine with me.

I've always thought of WoW in terms of dps, as burst fun, lol. It could never sustain me for long, but for little bits here and there it was good. I've had a lot more fun in other games before and am looking for something later to come out, but for now, WoW will do. To me, it is a decent game. Being away for a couple years makes the game more enjoyable now since I have really 2 expansions to experience heh.

I'm hoping a game more to my taste will come out and do well, maybe something like Fallen Earth, but I will just have to wait and see. Anyways, I don't really see anything new in terms of social, crafting, or even graphics. I did notice the social part was even worse than before I left. The immaturity in chat was horrendous. I usually have to turn chat off now heh.
