One of the few things that I liked about AoC was the download speed. I have used SoE's downloader before and that is horrible.

i love AOC, but dont find teh endgame very fun, with teh low pops and teh half a pvp system. Just all there is to do is pvp right now, and that gets wack after a while.
WAR??? i tried it in open beta and after 15 hours of play, i cancelled my preorder. It was just too much cloning in that game for me to openly appreciate it.
Dude you are not supposed to wander around in the countryside by yourself. You are supposed to join a guild and Siege, either to defend your city or to kill and rape in other cities.
Is there a reason why you are telling someone how they should be playing the game that they bought with their own money?
Did the game box state that the only way that AoC is playable is when you join a guild and seige/defend a city?
Not everyone is into large scale PvP combat, some people just like to solo and wander around the countryside and explore the game.
However, if you are indeed correct and that the only thing left in AoC to do is largescale PvP seiging then it is no wonder that the game is practically dead.
AoC does not have a free trial. Even if it did, it would most likely only allow you to play in Tortage, which is the best part of the game. That part of the game will get you to level 20.
Would I download the Tortage tutorial if it was a free download and free to play? Yes, that portion of AoC is fun to play, however the rest of the game, IMO is total crap.

Personally both games have plus and minus points. I found Warhammer more fun though and dont struggle to log on. Take away AoC superb graphics and you have an empty game with no core. Take away Warhammers fun value at end game which I believe will get boring pretty fast, then your left with not much either.
Personally I'm waiting for WOTLK in WOW. I have played AoC and am still playing Warhammer. BUt at the end of the day, despite its faults, WoW is still the daddy out there for the majority. Im afraid War and AoC dont even come close. They will end up as niche games with WaR probably having 2 - 3 times more subscribers than AoC.
The only reason WoW is better than AoC and WAR atm is because WoW has been out for quite a few years now and it has had more than ample time to add in new content as well as tweak it games a great deal. I remember WoW at launch and that game was just as boring after a few months of playing as well.
Give WAR about 6 months to get a bit better and that game will be much more than a niche game. AoC however is going to be stuck with being a niche game though due to the fiasco these past 6 months. Even if it ever does get it's act together, most of the players who quit that game wont ever go back due to the game choices on the current MMO market.

game for me and wife duoing diff char combos was:
* Great graphics
* Very lonely, we seldom saw other players, hard to find groups.
* Not groupfriendly, many quests only one person could loot and so on, had to do it over and over til all got their stuff
* Poor assistance with problems, they tried usually but most common answer: We are aware of the problem.
Sad but true, was fun tho
Point 1 - I agree
Point 2 - Mostly due with the foundation of the game being mostly Instanced.
Point 3 - Largely due to heavily Instanced game with poorly thought out quest mechanics.
Point 4 - Poorly trained Customer Assistance.
Do you currently play a SOE published game?
