Glad to hear you are enjoying the game.
One bit of advice, learn to use the keyboard + mouse. As you level up you will come across more and more monsters that run away from you (this is no problem if you can use the keyboard + mouse effectivley).
Also, if you plan on grouping you will do a lot of running around in fights as a melee character. So if you don't want to learn how to use the keyboard to play you should problably make a ranged character.
It's not a matter of learning, more of dispising keyboard control for character movement. I am a console player and i am used to a D-Pad under my left thump. An alternative would be a joypad, which i have used for the other MMORPGs in combination with a mouse and a keyboard. But i am not playing on a normal PC at a desk anymore. I just sit in a chair on front of my HDTV with a Trust KB-2950 keyboard in both hands.
I have been playing quite a few MMORPGs, like SWG pre-NGE, EVE, WoW, CoH and now i have come to LOTRO. I wasn't interested in LOTRO when it was released, but a few weeks ago i heard about the upcoming Moria expansion and decided to give LOTRO a try. At first it looked and played a lot like WoW. Now my female elvish warrior is level 17 and still questing in the Shire.
*(Note: i am not familiar with the englisch phrases of LOTRO, because i am playing the german client.)
I like
-the deed & trait system. It is fun for me to do all those deeds and it is just logical that an attack improves after using it for 1500 times. And it is a motivation to do quests even if they are grey so i can get that trait.
-defensive mobs like bears that give you a warning before they attack you. Makes travelling a bit easier.
-the graphics. On my 40" HDTV and with most settings on HIGH it just looks georgeous. The dynamic shadows add a nice level of atmosphere. Fighting a wolf in the moving shadow of a tree while the sun shines down on the Shire is just great.
-the instanced epic-quests.
A thing i don't like
-Billwiss-Orcs. They are annoying as hell. They flee, which makes killing them as a mouse-only-player with a melee class tedious, since i can't run and use specialattacks at the same time. The spear throwers usually don't come alone, which makes them killing solo very dangerous.
Overall i am quite pleased with the game and will be staying for a while ![]()
